Default Balancer Information

Hello,

I was able to purchase a Heins rotor balancer in great condition and I was wondering if someone would be able to help out with some specific questions about it.
The unit is up and running.

Model number contrioller 8025 MP
Model number mechanical setup: MP-1

Any help, manual, practical experience would be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance

Ralf

I have two of them, mine which has some issue with the controller from my kids getting into the shop and playing drums on it. The price they wanted to fix it was nuts, so I just switched to the Hoffman I had bought that we could not get to work right back when I got it. A few years ago, I obtained all of the old Orion USA equipment that was being scrapped, so I have their fully functional and barely used Heins. They felt it was too slow, so they used a Hoffman.

What do you need to know? What are you attempting to balance...actual brushed arms or you trying to convert it to brushless rotor use? (not sure you are gonna like the answer to this one).

I unfortunately don't have a copy of the manual in digital form, but I do have a hard copy. I got one of the very last ones they ever made for RC armatures, might even be the last one. They kinda gave mixed answers over the years. They went out of business years back and an employee kinda restarted it with a new name. Looks like they are still around, https://westcoastbalancing.com/ ....they may still have the manual in digital form. I know at one point he was offering services and parts on the old Heins machines, but be prepared for sticker shock. He even had an upgrade digital control box for the machine, but the price was more than my original machine was.

Hi Eddie,

thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge, really appreciate this.
I bought the unit from a shop in UK, together with 2 magnet zappers. Main goal is to balance rotors for DC brushed motors, like Orion, Peak, Trinity, LRP etc.
I also started to wind armatures, together with some friends.
I already experienced the price expectations from the guy you mentioned here, no way I'll pay an amount like this for a pdf copy of a manual.....
I bought a box of kid's putty (plastilin) and started to figure things out by myself.

This is how far I got at the moment:

The unit is up and running, I am able to balance rotors on a precise level. The specific questions about the controller would be:
- What are the A/B switches for?
- The +/- switches determine if the light or heavy side of the rotor is displayed on top by the strobe light, is this correct?
- The 1/0 switches seem to determine which side is displayed actively, is this correct?

Thanks a lot for your help

Ralf
