I don't see USGT ever dying like some mention. You can't get much more corner speed unless you go to different tires. I only see it being like a VTA if the track is big. I see this in MotoX, kids going to a bigger bike because they think faster down the straight is the answer.

Could that be because some tracks are not pushing USGT. I don't understand why some racers are always chasing something. At times it seems like music, we all like different songs and even within the song we like different ornaments. So we just keep chasing.
Still dependent on some tracks and region. USGT is alive and well at some tracks and dead at others.
It is nice not chasing motor of the month and the inexpensive spec tires last a reasonably long time. The speed is just right too. When a class has lasted well over 10+ years and the worst complaint now is just bodies, that is a pretty successful run. Lets see if LMH even lasts that long!

My local track transitioned USGT racers to 25.5T stock sedan, and VTA to LMH 25.5T. While we allowed USGT and LMH bodies and TC tires to mix and match, it only took about 2 months for VTA and USGT classes to stop forming in place of the other two.

Question regarding tire strategy for big races - I'm going to the next 1Up race in Fresno - Friday practice, Saturday 1 seeding round and 3 Qualifiers, Sunday triple mains, so 7 runs. I can only use USGT tires marked and purchased at the track.
My original plan was 1 set for the weekend, 1 practice run on Friday to scuff them in, plus 7 runs Qual plus racing.
I'm now wondering if I should get 2 sets - scuff each set on practice day, then 1 set each for qual, another set for mains?
Any suggestions?
Thanks
