I would love some of the wet clay tracks they have down South, but we will take what we can get.
don't think iv ever run on one that was sealed. im assuming its done to keep the dust down. the clay tracks iv been to just wet the track down when/if dust started to become an issue. an unsealed semi damp clay track actually has tack to it, and a pin tire will actually "dig in" making for good grip.

Yea, these are the better ones. But I feel could be improved by more lumps and bumps, and the pile going in the wrong direction to reduce grip.

I was directing my ire against black carpet tracks mostly.

If someone changed the clay to turf......I would just adjust to turf.

What annoys me is the constant fluctuations in classes and class structure. When I invest a good amount of $ into a platform, parts, tires, springs, batteries, gears, etc. I get annoyed when suddenly that has to be moth balled because someone decides to "change direction".......
Where I'm from, clay doesn't exist. We had dirt, and that closed, and we've had astro for the past 10 years, but that closed as well. So now we only have 2 community run dirt tracks for all scales and another astro one for 10th scale.

There is one gigantic onroad circuit, also run with help from the local authorities I believe.
nitrous36 and River19 like this.

In my somewhat brief experience with the sealed clay, track traction will go from no traction (think dust on a gymnasium floor) to high traction like pavement but usually short of high traction carpet. Traction is largely from multiple cars running laps and laying down the "blue groove". Get out of that groove and you will spin, slide, crash etc. and then you need a good lap or so to get the crap off your tires to get back up to speed.

At our track it is a pure slicks tire game which is what it is............

A while back there was a turf track in my area. From what I remember it had the same issue as carpet and clay concrete in that tires were the fastest the first couple runs and quickly dropped off afterwards.

This is one interesting thing about our clay track, new tires are horrible and actually the oldest, nappiest slicks people have are usually the best and we can get a number of race days out of a set.
