No. The sharpie tip is elevated so when you draw the line you are cutting off everything below that line. The tip is approximately 8-10mm from the board.

I didn’t have an insert handy but I used a wheel to show you.

Next time you do it. Post a picture of the foam. Still can’t quite get my head around it. What’s the benefit of it.

I’ve used the premounted predominantly. Unless they were unavailable. Only messed with inserts once back on clay. And got grilled by a few experienced drivers as to what and why I doing it. Never really considered it for carpet

If its cutting these down similar to what I have a cutting guide for, seems to give a bit more grip on worn carpet from what I was told.

Essentially you are narrowing the foam. Some actually use a 4wd front foam or narrow the rear foam to 4wd width. I typically narrow them by 5-10mm.

This gives more overall grip and can reduce traction rolling slightly. This is predominantly done on tracks that do not allow sauce.

If you are using sauce, that will generate more grip and the foam width isnt as critical but can still help slightly with traction rolling.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I have some new Fuzz Bites to mount and I will give this a try.
