Over the weekend I installed the V2 TS160 with the new Surpass 7.5kv V6 motor in my TLR 5.0 Elite. I put the TS120 in my vintage b4 with a old loaner 7.5kv motor my friend let me borrow. It's a fixed can Acuvance 7.5. What caught be by surprise was that motor was way faster than the new Version 6 motor. I was pulling wheelies with it in the B4, and overall had more top end power.

It's not a fancy looking motor with all the Cutout of the Surpass V6, but boy was it faster.
So I am a bit disappointed that I spent all this money on upgrading the ESC, and motor, but have it perform below expectations. Any suggestions? I run bone stock programming on both ESC. Was wondering if it's a gearing or programming issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I see that is a 7.5 T. What is the V6?

Just to make sure everyone's on the same page. 7500Kv and 7.5T are two utterly different things. Are you sure you're not mixing them up? The one picture shows a motor with 7.5T printed on it (and 7.5T is usually more in the ~4500Kv range, where 540 sized sensored motors are concerned)

The V6 is more of a torque monster. After you run the motors, which one has the coolest temp? What is the timing on each motor? I'm guessing the V6 is running cooler than the V2. If so, adjust the timing on the V6 and you will see it come alive.

My mistake. Both the motor my friend let me borrow and the one I bought from Surpass is 7.5T. I think the motor my friend let me borrow the can timing is fixed, however the Surpass was set to 30 by default. Both motors were not even warm to touch to my surprise.

As far as the OP is concerned, if the ESC setting are "default" on both ESCs, how do you know that they are the same? Comparing apples with oranges. You need to spend more time setting your equipment up, or at least understandig how your equipment is set up. There's no reason for a significant difference between the motors, if anything the Surpass should be faster (when geared right) as the rotor will be a lot stronger.

It's from the same manufacturer, and use the same base programming. As for my gearing, I simply geared the car based on what the manual suggested. As I didn't have time to test or practice as I was out of the country prior to the race. Again to my surprise the top end of the new Surpass motor was not anywhere close to this older motor my friend let me borrow. So I figured there must be something I can do to increase the speed of it because a new motor can't be this slow to an older 7.5T.

What is the ti.ing at on the old motor?

Add timing to the V6. By looking at the specs, the V6 should be a lot faster. The other motor is a Keyence motor, and I can't find anything stating the timing on it.

We have a X-mas race this weekend, so I am going to go practice on Saturday, and increase the timing from 30 to 34, and add in 2 degree increments till the top end speed is atleast comparable to that of the old Keyence. I will go up a tooth as well on gearing from the recommended gearing in the manual. I will do this manually rather than screw with Turbo or Boost on the ESC.
