Default Protek Storage Mode

I have the Protek 66 Duo charger and Protek 130C Shorty Lipo. In the storage mode how long can you leave them "stored"?

There's no hard set rule, but generally you can go several months and will want to periodically check the pack, but there's nothing you can do to reverse the aging effects on loss of capacity:

I just got back into the hobby and pulled out 4 2S LiPos I had in storage without continuous maintenance for about 8 years. Two packs had popped and had to be thrown out. The other two were fine, if a little worse than they used to be.

Best case scenario for a battery stored at 40% SOC at room temp will lose roughly 4% capacity per year:
https://batteryuniversity.com/articl...ased-batteries

96% capacity at year 1
92% capacity at year 2
88% capacity at year 3
85% capacity at year 4
81% capacity at year 5
78% capacity at year 6
75% capacity at year 7
72% capacity at year 8

Rule of thumb is that a batttery has reached it's serviceable life at 80% capacity which is close to the 5 year mark

There are other factors which reduce a batteries lifespan too, most of my packs last between 6 months to a year where I race in triple digit summers in Texas

i have races in about 3-4 years and i just check some of my batteries and the voltage has not moved at all. They are stored at 3.85volts per cell and they are still at that voltage after over 3 years in storage.

With storage mode the voltage of the cell will be charged (or discharged) to 3.85v per cell, capacity has nothing to do with it.
lbsnoopy, DirkW and gigaplex like this.

Exactly. It's all about voltage per cell, capacity is irrelevant.
