USGT
The same thing happens in all types of racing. When my son first started MX, he was in the rookie class and racing against other kids that would race in upper classes at other events. They just needed their win-points to get them into bigger race events.
While testing motors, I found that a well used motor, especially used for carpet racing, will gain over 500 RPM's just by cleaning it and oiling the bearings.
Not hating any of it. Just pointing out how stupid we get just to give our toy cars a tiny boost. It's almost like buying a new pair of shoes to help you run faster on asphalt.

If you need to spend 10x the cost of the motor to get that 0.01 lap time with your hobby, you should
1. quit the hobby as it’s clearly not a healthy choice for you
2. Use that money you were going to spend on the motor on a therapist

i think i need you USGT racers to start tuning my open Stock and Super Stock motors. there is way more thought going into motors than i would believe.
the point of a spec motor is to stop focusing on the motor. we did this w/ the Can-Am Series and it work really well. when you stop focusing on motors you can invest time in setups and driving. these two things will have a much great outcome than any small improvement you can do to a USGT motor.

WAIT!!!
Are you telling me races are not won on the straightaway? This is why I prefer a little better acceleration over that tiny bit of top speed.
