I've got an RC10 B6.4 which I've been running at my local off-road track for a few months now. I've noticed my car is substantially louder than the others in the same class. The car accelerates, brakes, drives just fine, no weird behavior from the motor. The problem is the motor/electronics makes a very weird constant beep/whine when applying the throttle.


I know that motors will make a small beeping noise. I've got a B74.1 with identical electronics which makes a small sound but nothing nearly as loud as the B6.


Here's what I've tried to diagnose the problem so far:

- completely rebuilt car, no loose screws or loose vibrating parts

- 3 different motors

- Put servo tape between motor and chassis to try and dampen possible vibration

- recalibrated radio and ESC


Here's a video demonstrating the sound. In the video I'm just barely applying the throttle. The noise happens whether the car is actually moving or not, which makes me suspect is something in the electronics.


I'm using a Hobbywing Xerun XR10 Pro G2S Elite ESC, and I've tried a Trinity 17.5, 10.5, and 8.5 motor. Each motor makes identical sounds.

Sounds normal, if a bit loud. Does it still do it when you take the pinion off?

No it doesn’t. Sounds very normal without load.

Sounds like my touring cars. Does the pitch of the sound change when you change the drive frequency in the ESC?

Drive frequency was the problem! I had both my 2wd and 4wd ESCs set to "Zero Timing" using the OTA connector and phone app. I assumed that meant all settings were identical. However the PWD on the 2wd as set to 1K, the 4wd was 2K. I changed the 2wd to 2K and the cars sound identical now.

That the drive frequeny did solve the error does not say it is the solution. As mentioned the beeping is normal, it is a side effect of the frequency. So if you play with the settings to get the max out of the ESC then do not avoid that setting, it could be the one you like/need.

True, but I tend to like a smoother throttle, so I anticipate turning the drive frequency up to be a good thing for me and my personal preferences. Frankly I didn't know what this setting did until I looked into it after gigaplex mentioned it.
