Am I asking for trouble running the front diff locker on my TT02R with the dog bones? If so, I have the original gear diff I can fill with Traxxas 20 million fluid, which is what I use in my TT01 euro truck without issue. Strictly raced on asphalt.

Lucas redntacky or any really thick grease works well. If run ear plugs or totally lock the diff you're going to break things. A little give will save you a lot without a major falloff in performance. In fact I'd say it will increase your odds of finishing rather than a dnf.

My answer was geared more towards the tt02 but for the R, yeah I'd use the thick oil over a locker.

THE MOD IN THIS POST WOULD NOT BE TCS LEGAL

I recently installed a brushless motor into my TT-02s. The fan shroud was hitting the motor wire posts on the motor. I used a spare shroud, dremel, and cutting disc for a quick mod. This only took a few minutes. Basically I cut a corner off and the shroud no longer interferes with the wire mounts on the motor. Here are some pictures of the mod and the shroud mounted on the car.

I probably could have cut less off the shroud, but I thought this modification looked pretty clean.

- motor is a Hobbywing 21.5 sensored/fixed timing that was part of a 21.5/Justock ESC combo (discontinued)

The bottom picture option part is for TT02S only
the bottom pic has the better turning setting for the ackerman set .which is better for track grip condition .top picture is more for stock spec

I have both of the Tamiya aluminum steering upgrades on my TT-02 S kits. I feel the long tie rod set has less bump steer. Ackerman is also easier to adjust. Here is a decent review of 54965 the The RC Racer website...https://www.thercracer.com/2020/10/5...-aluminum.html

One thing that I would recommend is that if you use Tamiya 54752 is that you use a 3x23mm screw (inserted from the bottom of the chassis) and a thin locking nut to attach the steering posts to the chassis. You can see this being done on page 14 of the TT-02sr manual. The long step screw that acts as a steering post on the basic TT02 can get ripped out of the chassis in a big collision. While this isn't a big deal if you are using a stock chassis, it can be very difficult to replace one of the colored chassis (red, white, or blue) and it can also be hard to get a carbon reinforced plastic chassis at times.

There are plenty of aftermarket companies that make aluminum steering racks for the TT-02 that are similar to the Tamiya 54752. The Yeah Racing kit gets good reviews and is less expensive. There are also aftermarket companies that make steering racks for the TT-02 that offer extreme ackerman angles which is good for drifting.

Here are some other options to upgrade the steering components on all TT-02 kits. For TCS racing, always check the class rules to see which Tamiya upgrades are allowed.

If yes, it's better than old 54752.
No problem for the belgian rules, just can't use type S arms and carbon parts

Also the new steering may not work with the standard TT02 suspension. The S has longer arms and different steering knuckles.

Stick with the standard version.
