I am interested in trying this with my 1/8 buggy (HB D819) here is my dillema;
I want to use a 3s lipo for power and am not sure if this will damage my reciever which is a Hitec Axion 2. How can I get the 3s power to the servo but keep the voltage to the reciever at 2s nominal voltage - I am not sure if this reciever can handle 3s if it can problem solved maybe? Miraculously I have found a 3s lipo that will fit my radio tray but really leaves little room for any additional wiring - considering the steering servo wire routes through the battery box on the HB.
Any advice will be appreciated and I can answer any questions you might have if I have left something out.

What servo are you using that can handle 3s direcly ?

A robot servo. 3 cells on a rx No way. use a ubec to drop voltage down

The direct power HV servos I have used wire directly to the battery. The plug in the RX is just for signal, no HV.

If you do not power the RX from an ESC, then yes.
Put A BEC on the same leads that power the servo and bump it down and plug it into the RX.

I power the RX from the built in BEC of the ESC. There are only 2 wires going from servo to RX, a ground and a signal. No voltage.

I don't make the servo, I just use it.
And they all have two wires going to the RX. Perhaps to prevent a floating ground?

Well in the case of the OP's question; Use a servo like this and power the receiver via the ESC or a BEC (if nitro).

I run direct power servos in 4s its not a problem at all just make sure to get a 4s servo. The power they have is ridiculous and speed is impressive.

This is what I am after. I am using the new hard servo spring and have it locked down. You'd be surprised how much the servo saver deflects in a high speed turn...especially in high bite conditions...
