Something I am wondering for your guys with your 3.1s to watch for as I have a CAL3.05 for a lack of a better term, basically converted a good portion of the rear end over to the new specs, mainly to save on parts to carry around with the daughter when she gets my car.

Anyway, I noticed at my last race and prior to this past weekend I had something weird going on in the rear end, and it looks like the screws that go through the diff cover had pulled threw on one side. As we are not using that brace setup anymore on the 3.1s, may be worth watching for. I ended up putting locknuts and running slightly longer screws all the way through for a more secure fit.

You can also leave them out completely, but you'd have to swap to shorter screws at the same time or they can stick through too much and touch the servo linkage when turning right.

This is interesting. I grinded a bit both plastic ballcups to archieve full lock, but this is a more elegant fix. Will check that when my cal3.1 arrives and add the tip to the wiki if necessary

like i said, something to watch for since we are cutting down on some of the bracing in that area and relying on the plastic mount. may be worth having that mount as a spare in the box.

DTM3.1s showing in stock at amain!

yeah looks like same pistons front and rear from CAL3 and DTM3, respectively.

Here is the setup sheet:

Looking at the manual for the CAL 3.1, the front is where they added length to it. If you compare the front pockets under the servo from the CAL3 to the 3.1 you can see there is a difference.

I would like to give some note here. Cal3.1 rear shock bodies are slightly longer.

And some more building notes here for people who are new to the platform.
  • You will see a pair of shims left when building differential. Those shims are used for removing play in front hex axle. Be carefull when installing it. The shim fits right in the gap between the bearing and the extra axle lenght. Screw in carefuly making sure that the shim doesn't move.
  • Similar situation happens with steering rack shims. Those shims fits right in the gap, make sure they do not move when screwing in. If those shims are not correctly placed, steering rack will have too much play.

I'd think if Yokomo wanted us to shim the front axle, they would've included it in the manual...As they did with the rear axle...And to note, those "extra" shims don't even come with the DTM3.1...
