One thing you might want to try (not sure it will work) would be to flip the swing arms on the floating mount so that the arms hang lower, then flip and mount the rack on top of the arms. This might alter the height of the rack just enough to clear the arms, but I don’t know how it might affect the steering geometry.
I guess my only frustration with this car lies around the option parts. While it’s great that Serpent really thought about all these tuning options, they lack the details of how and when you use them in some instances. For example, when I bought the floating mount for the original X20, I had no idea that you had to buy a different set of mounts for the swing arms to mount to it. Not that I’ve actually needed it, as I haven’t had an opportunity to run on carpet - but I love the way the car handles though!

I've seen about the custom steering arm plates (still don't know how made them) but I don't think it would make such a difference. On the 2021, the steering posts are waaay shorter than the 2020 version, so you can't have it go over the lower arms. If I abandon the new front knuckles for the 2020 version, I will probably use the 2020 configuration also, but with the new knuckles the bumpsteer setup is altered...
By the way it was more a theoretical question, as the car won't see a track until end of month :-(

I'm starting carpet season this week-end... We'll see how is the car on ETS carpet... Pretty impatient to check that!
I've made some new 3d parts for the indoor races, such as a new fan shroud which use the Serpent fixation on motor mount, or some LCG shorty holders which allow to use flat weights under the batteries.
If somebody is interested I can publish the files.

Hi there
2 questions.
1. droop values
When looking at the std setup sheet, they say 2.5mm front and rear. Ohter set up sheets are also saying aroung 2.4 front and 2.2 rear. I find these values a bit strange. Chassis sitting flat on setup board and measurements have been done from setup board ground to the lowest point of the hub. With thes values I find the downstop travel a bit long. Or what do you think about?
2. setup for carpet
for other brands a lot of carpet std setup sheets are available, especially on petitrc site. For X20 '21 there almost sheets available for asphalt tracks. I know there are not a lot pro drivers who are racing this chassis. Maybe anyone can tell me a starting point for the X20 on carpet (alu flex, medium traction)?
Thank you all!

2. Hmm, I took a look at the default setup, and it seems that although Serpent has a separate Aluminum kit for the X20 ‘21, they didn’t really update the manual/setup sheet to reflect preferred carpet settings. I’m not sure why that is. I don’t have carpet tracks around me, but right off the bat, you will want to flip the steering hub insert to the raised position vs. the default lower position. Likewise, I suspect that you’ll want the hardest springs anti-roll bars - heck, I used those on a high bite asphalt surface that I last ran on. Because of the axle RC adjustment, I think some people have even experimented with using the front upper arms and steering hubs in the rear to have the same RC adjustments back there.
Anyway, I suggest that you look up “Serpent X20 ETS” on YouTube, where Felix Law went over some of Yugo Nagashima’s setup that he used at an ETS carpet event that they went to last year with the original X20.
