Here is local track . Plan on runnig indy 2wd
buggy. Car has a 75 spur currently. Any ideas for gearing starting point? Reedy 17.5+ 5k lipo.
Assuming you mean 72T spur as I don't see a 75T spur option for yokomo on amain.

In general when I don't have a starting point at a new track, look to target an FDR of 7.5 on 2wd buggy and then adjust gearing based on where I am topping out down the longest straight, relative to temps. that in general has worked well since you can have some variances on how the motors best respond to gearing.

In general on a smaller indoor track I have seen with a 72T spur a range from 27 - 31T for spur usage, depending on motor (torque versus something more RPM based) and track conditions (open versus tight, etc)

yeah that looks an associated spur. I'd probably still go with the range I mentioned, you may find in comparison to a 72T you would go with 1 pinion size larger with the 75T.

Not sure if they had to mod the spur to made it direct drive, so myou may just want to simplify and get Yokomo spurs.

Refer to attached picture, the blue circled part.

The M3x8mm screw not able to tighten onto the gearbox, how do you tighten the screw onto the gearbox

From what I have seen, it doesn't need to tighten down locked into that part of the box. get it to where you feel it is fully seated should be fine with it not wanting to pull back out. You could also try a M3x10 screw there instead if you want. The other stuff all going together I feel does the heavy lifting of holding that area together.

yeah that's an AE spur. I currently have a 72t one in my 17.5 buggy but with the slipper installed. The yokomo slipper parts are compatible with the AE spur gears. I've run 74 and 75t spurs in my car that were kimbroughs.

Here I prefer the slipper installed but then locked down. It feels more natural a drive and I don't lack on takeoff wit that setup. I also run Avid / Schelle spurs, all red pads. I even had some custom fiberglass pads a guy made years ago for no fade, worked great with my drag racing converted Yokomo

Curious if the CAL3.1 chassis will fit the SO1.0. My understanding is the CAL3.1 chassis is a few mm longer than the SO1.0.

Yes the CAL3.1 plate is longer and yes direct fit. (the SO1.0 is a CAL3 plate anyway)

where do you get the parts for the schelle slipper?! It seems they are discontinued

seeing that. had these for a long time both the shelle and avid variants. the biggest different was the slipper plates. they are more open for the top gear shaft to go over. In a pinch you could take ones that are compatible with AE and just open up that hole to fit over, I did at at one time. I'd also say reach out to Avid / schelle direct maybe they could make some more plates as the rest is just bolt on from other parts from what I recall, or at mst maybe some shimming on the spacer that spaces the assembly away from the motor plate (at times I have used some axle shims)

I saw a video about doing a swap to the AE slipper system on the Yokomo. That might be the way to go since they are obsolete. I you would think that avid would still make them for the Yokomo since the SO platform is still very competitive. Seems like nobody is giving them any love

honeslty there is't anything wrong witht he Yokomo slipper setup. The only reason I run the schelle / avid setup is its alittle lighter and I like the tuning options of the different pads. Have alot of the spurs too lol. So if you have access to the Yokomo parts, I'd just go with that. With the new direction of Yokomo if growth in the brand is seen, we may see the places that did option parts tune up again for them.
