Hello, I'm new to the 1/12 world, not sure which servos will work for the smaller scale cars. I don't have a sanwa radio and don't want to pay sanwa prices for a 1/12 servo. What are some options? Or do they just use a regular low profile servo like TC would?

"Sanwa prices"? Any worthwhile servo for 1/12th scale is going to run you over $100. The defacto standard today is the Sanwa PGS-HR because it is small, light, fast, precise and has reliable centering. The topper to all of that is most 1/12th scale chassis today are built around this servo. If you don't go PGS-HR, your next best bets are the Xpert MI-3301 or KO Propo RSx3-12. It looks as though you run Xray and Awesomatix chassis - both premium brands, so you understand the value, even in premium-priced products. Spend the extra $50 and get a servo that you aren't going to want to replace after your first few races.

$200 for a servo is a little overboard, at least in my books. Was just looking for other options I might not know about. Looks like amain has all the above and a protek but it's a little on the heavy side.

The KO RSx3 12 is also a very good 12th scale servo. At close to 100$, it’s pretty good value for the price.

PowerHD M8 or SRT M12 servos should be plenty enough for the application and wont break the bank.

i see people recommending the sanwa pgs hr servo for 12th scale even for other brands of radios so i bought one thinking it could work on a spektrum dx5 radio but on operating manual it came with under caution it says due to differences in the implement of 2.4 ghz technology among different maufactures only sanwa brand 2.4 radio control systems are compatiable. i already have it mounted and bought a servo mount for it and it doesn,t work for me. are there people getting it to work on other brands of radio other than sanwa?

There must have been something "lost in translation" or so. 2.4GHz plays no role between receiver and servo, only between transmitter and receiver. The only thing that is limited to Sanwa radios are SXR and SSR modes. Servo should work just fine with normal SHR mode on any radio.

Unwanted input but honesty spektrum is to slow for 1/12 scale. A budget Sanwa would be night and day better.

I would have thought so too, but I tried the SRG HR with my KO ExNext and it will only work if I set the radio to receiver communication to normal protocol.It won’t work with any of the faster communication protocols. I can’t figure why, but I tried with 3 different receivers and they all behave the same.
