This one is a little more. Power HD R12. Good reviews. I picked one up for my 3racing S6/4 build.
All of the above.

We initially wanted to go for the XQ2S but he wanted something with more red and I think the Xq2s doesn't come with a carbon fibre chassis. Such is the beauty of the hobby nowadays that there are cheaper brands to fit everyone's liking.

We also looked at the Sakura S64 but I have had bad experience with the brand in the past (I was semi sponsored in the past and even started the Sakura XI thread when the car was first launched). I asked in the S64 forum here to try to quell some of my concerns but had no feedback which was why we passed on this car.

I have included prices and links however many of these were bought locally. Am just linking to RCMart for a better representation of international prices.

Car - SNRC R3C (Carbon fibre chassis) - US$140
Proven car as this car has won multiple times on our track. Carbon fibre chassis and looks bling. Had to order from Aliexpress but never had issues with this in our region.

Servo - JX High Speed servo - US$14
Cheap entry level high speed servo. I use a few of these on my spare cars and have built a few cars for others using them as well. Haven't encountered any issues and plenty fast for a newcomer but I have read on this forum of people receiving dead or problematic units.

ESC/Motor - Xr10 Justock 13.5T - US$115
We are running 13.5T blinky so this is a good choice. There are cheaper options but this falls into the "longer term investment" category.

Radio
Flysky FS-GT3B 2.4G - US$28
Good enough to start racing with and receivers are dirt cheap. I actually have a couple of these which are used on a few Shortcourse trucks that I just hand out to people during races to race with. Build quality is flimsy but nothing has broken yet. A big plus is that the receivers are dirt cheap.

Body shell
Clone of the Dogbollox - US$15
Bought locally from the LHS. Not sure where to get online

Tyres - Team Powers - US$20
Bought locally from the LHS.
Dear tak4 ,

How are you ? Yesterday I received the XQ2S and started to purchase the electronics. In the process of rereading the thread refound your post, thank you! Lots of good information.

Can you recommend an inexpensive low-profile servo ?

I am planning on the XR10 Justock 21.T.

I searched and was not able to find a clone of the ZooRacing DogsBollox

Cheers

Thank you Robio

The Power HD R12 looks good at $68 with shipping.

Cheers

There are better around but this will do the job
Thank you jgil089 !

Looks like Savox is one of the best servo makers. I know next to nothing about servos, it looks like there are many new servo brands with nice exterior cases, but Savox is one of the older makers of servos. Am I correct ?

The price for the Savox Low Profile High-Speed Metal Gear Digital Servo Model: SC-1251MG is $64 with shipping.

Thank you ! Cheers.

I'd go with the Power HD over the Savöx any day of the week and twice on sunday.

ali express, hobbyking, blazerc.com

I've seen one of the guys had express car, don't know what model exactly, but it looked so similar to mine snrc. Does anyone know if parts are interchangeable?

I have an r3 pro, a lot of xray parts are interchangeable, notably the arms according to many. But honestly the price of blaze replacement parts even with HK shipping comes in lower than the orange stuff. You can rebuild it twice with the shipping costs included for just the price of a t4 kit, I generally throw extra parts in each order until I see the shipping cost increase so I can build a stock of backups.
I Can attest to it's decency, I am a terrible driver and have bounced it off a lot of barriers. Did bend one piece after 3 weeks of racing, but a pair of them with shipping was cheaper than the equivalent xray part from amain.
With a basic setup, and a justock 21.5 it goes fast enough, tracks well and is responsive enough to make it clear that my driving skills are the weakest link.

Dear DirkW

Thank you for the feedback. Would you mind telling me why you prefer the Power HD over the Savox? I see that bratan uses the PowerTek 100SS. I know nothing, would like to understand the differences.

Thank you for sharing your expertise, very much appreciated.

Cheers

Dear Notsogood (great user name)

I am just starting out, you are waaay ahead of me. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am thinking of similar electronics Justock ESC and 21.5T motor to get started. Which servo are you using ?

Cheers

Nothing inherently wrong with Savöx, they just have a reputation for being a little too power hungry. Power HD servos are comparable priced (slightly more), but even better quality.

yes I smashed mine pretty hard couple of times too, actually just noticed my driveshaft is bent while I was installing sway bar kit. So, r3g being 108$ on alliexpres I think I will just order another kit and have all parts ready. I tried making backup parts cart on blazerc.com and after I was done, I was at 80-90$, so buying another whole car for ~20$ more seems like better idea.

Hey there, sorry for the slow reply as i am not too active on the forum. I have been trying team power electronics and are sold on their products. Am using their dcs servo and its great. Ive replaced all my sanwas with them.

RC Explorer Co. Ltd.

They also have really good escs and servo for quite a reasonable price.

The downside of low-cost chassis that has a lot of aluiminum is that they use a lower grade alloy that's just weaker than what you see on more expensive kits. They might bend in a hard crash and it may be hard to notice where exactly.

IMO it's much better to have plastic than a low grade aluminum alloy, even more if one crashes a lot. They won't look as good, but also won't be as frustrating.

Man! What great advice..
Hadn't considered this before, but makes perfect sense. You could have something bent, thinking it's an issue with setup, and chase it from one end of the car to the other...👍
