The same people that have to bend the rules are the same ones that can’t make one single lap with out smacking the pipes so I guess they need any edge they can get

Surprised ceramic single shield aren't banned in the car too.

Where do we stop and just admit we lost, not because someone had 'other' stuff?
Obviously the car is not a spec car so therefore run whatever bearing makes you faster but the USGT motor specifically is spec making it illegal to change or alter it or its contents.
if you run that motor to the point of needing new bearings then I doubt it's even worth it at all, might as well buy a new motor.
I'm basing my new motor scenario on the old motor taking a dive on numbers and performance.

Since these are spec motors what is the spec..... Kw, rpms. etc....... Paul should be able to say what the variance in performance should be then maybe dyno them and if they fall in that range they are good.

Winding resistance and check that the rotor shaft is etched with USGT. If you want to get really fancy, check timing to see it's at 30 degrees.

you totally missed the point of the spec motor. You missed all the whining the last year or so at the local tracks. Too much to type here. I’d love to fill you in when you come back out so you can sit in shock at the actual tantrums from our fellows racers.

We have a full range of specs on resistance and timing. I think Myron is taking about ceramic bearings and aluminum screws and all that stuff.

Robk you hit the nail on the head ...and titanium screws .....not listed in the rules....I perfer the Cirtrx motors by speed passion we used to run in rcgt...Totally sealed not rebuildable, 21.5 very equal racing....top racers stayed away from that class cause their was no edge to get. Bodies looked realistic and no matter what you did you got no advantage so people would run a variety of bodies.....fun class...I think paul should weld every one shut.......lol

You would have to invalidate every existing motor and it's sold as a "rebuildable" motor.
I can't seem to find replacement screws or bearings. Are they the M-Code- MC4 and M-code - MC2?

Speaking of MC4, how often do the bearings need to be changed? I'm not planning to open it up just to check..

If you're racing onroad carpet indoors, almost never.

That question can only be answered based on the variables of how often you race, track conditions, temperature cycles, etc.
For example: If someone raced and practiced twice a week for a year on a dusty outdoor track in the tropics with an over geared setup, and drove aggressively, frequently crashing.....I'd suspect those bearings would quickly need attention.

For onroad racing and all motors in general? Almost never. Just a drop of oil, once a month is all I ever do.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm asking in general for onroad. And I only race twice a month.

So our club decided to allow the bearing change and the ti screws since the motor is sold as rebuildable. . Not a very big difference in the on track performance...we saw around 2-3 tenths but that can be squashed with a few "off" race lines.
