I see alot of people around the midwest running the Protoform Strakka and CRC Black Art BA009. I usually run the light weight versions instead of the super light weight. The Black Art body that I just bought is listed as light weight, but is considerably thinner than the Strakka light weight - like 38 grams vs. 45 grams. I also just bought the Bitty Design BDY12-RBX to try. It looks so much better than the other bodies. Painted it, but haven't tried it yet. It is a little heavier than the Strakka - like 48 grams. If I was to order this body again, I might go with the super light weight.

I really like the Bitty Design LSM19 or the Montech M20. A couple of guys have tried the Robox and really like it. One had been running the CRC Black Art for years and likes the way the Robox drives. That is what I will try next.
Issues I've had with CRC front ends: Pivot ball not threading straight, binding/loose lower pivot ball, some of the molds way out of spec and balancing caster left/right is full forward on one side and full rear on the other. Main screw direct thread to plastic... Its fine really. Tap the threads and it should be good to go. Genesis RC kit with a nut also.
VSS: Tight tolerances, hard/std option for tuning or durability, width adjustable, less thread in parts that walk out and tweak, easy camber gain adjustment.
Both are good front ends. There's just more you can do with the VSS if you know what you're doing. And if you don't there's less to get wrong.

15802993[/url]]I know it'd be a learning curve for me to figure out the VSS, I guess my biggest question is does it generate more entry steering than the classic crc front end. On a small track I've seen the difference between my car and others that the entry in my crc is lacking. This is after yrs of owning and loving my crc. Now that I'm trying to elevate to compete with some of the faster folks I see where my car is lacking. I honestly don't want to leave crc for xray because all xray does is release a new $400 12th scale every yr and I'm not tryna start that money pit

I agree the CRC has had a long life, but still a leader of the pack locally. No issues with my CK25 when a good driver has it. The owner of our indoor track has xrays and says the 1/12 scale xray has a pos front end designed like the eclipse and legends front steering blocks. True dat. Crunchy in the beginning of the stroke and can bind up in a turn.
I don't see why it should matter if Xray is releasing a new kit every year. Not like the prior year model goes immediately obsolete. Xray only does very minor annual updates and do big changes every once in a while (like the '21).
The CK25 is inexpensive and still works well at the club level box stock. With that said, rumors is that CRC is working on something new.
