Sounds like you just buy what you prefer. Can't be forcing others into that pond just because man..

Based on your posting in the AX FWD thread, I assume you run the fwd ax car. Just curious, what is wrong with it and why is it a poor chassis choice?

Nothing at all.. its called sarcasm

I enjoy running my FWD against 4WD, and it does quite well.. almost there. The reason there is no weight limit, is to get more participation in the class..

For similar reasons is why I don't understand the weight decrease, if it potentially alienates more people.

I'm starting to see this class has transformed from what it first originated.

Starting? That happened years ago when all the HPI bodies dried up and everyone started running soap bar bodies. Our USGT class is about a 10th of a second (on a ~9 second lap) off of 21.5 TC.

Try not to take it personally. You get a lot of negative reactions here from people being defensive when you don't agree with a specific class. What you really need to decide is what is more important to you, fun or competition. Don't get me wrong, you can have both, but fun is generally less competitive and you can run the older chassis and just enjoy the class for what it is. If you are after competition, then buy the latest and greatest and take advantage of every rule.

Me, I like the competition. I like trying to eek out a tenth here and a tenth there. I like buying new kits and motors. This is why I stick to regular TC classes, but I do have an interest in this class, just not sure the class would want me, lol.

If you really think about it... This change only benefits one type of chassis, which already has the 'advantage' with a potential to increase the gap. Not the class as a whole.

That's what I don't understand.

Maybe someone can fill us all in on why the change has occurred?

Main reason for the change... same reason as Mod / 17.5 Tc. Everything has lost weight over the last 4-5 years.

The cars are much lighter than before, Motors are lighter, Batteries are lighter, bodies are lighter, & even Rx's are lighter. Each season we keep adding more & more weight, I'm glad TC is 1320 now. I did that change two weekends ago and it was a plus plus plus. Now Usgt following suit everyone will enjoy un strapping some led / brass. Less wear & tear on the drivetrain / equipment. There really is no down side, the extra speed is a bonus and the cars accelerate much better. It's a win win.

This is a false statement..

I think what you meant to say is 'everyone driving the DualDeck Carbon TC'.. Which is not everyone who participates in the class..

..but i get your message

You have a AX FWD chassis yet the way you make it seem is, cost is the main factor and there are a bunch of people with plastic Tc cars out there trying to run usgt lol.. Anyone and I mean anyone can afford a used dual deck Carbon Tc. If said person cannot someone will basically donate them one. We are un sure why you keep bringing up plastic touring cars as if they are super relevant.

Anyone with a plastic Tc in 2021 chose to buy it over something else.

I also mentioned i have a TC-01 I'm considering running.. Light battery, alloy options..etc etc. 1352 with no body. because i chose to, yes.. Still can't make min weight, even more so

The weight reduction in lighter battery, Speedo, motor is seen across the board for all the cars. Unlike the weight reduction 'benefit' for DualDeck CarbonTC..

Hence my original concern.. Lets think about the with just a TUB Chassis.. Like we once did.

30g is not going to save your drivetrains.. If we are being real..

I hear you, Osherman. My TA07 was closer to 1400 than 1350. I would rather see lead on cars, but talking with Myron "Battman" , he laid out a rational case for reducing the weight.

I don't like lowering the weight. At the same time Roar going to 1320 for sedan only means kits will get even lighter. And there will be even less space for lead I guess.

Btw, anyone who decided to buy a carbon fiber car could have bought a plastic car too. It works both ways....
