I need help, I have futaba 3pv with a futaba R304SB rx in my Traxxas slash (stock xl5 esc). Radio and rx worked fine until recently, at this weekends race I noticed when I turned everything on the esc blinked green very fast, during this time I had steering but not throttle to the esc, after about 30-60 seconds I would eventually get throttle to the esc and the green light would be off (green light would come on solid only when I was giving the car throttle). Yesterday I was able to recalibrate the esc per Traxxas instruction and everything worked perfect then in the afternoon right before my second race it went back to the previous issue described above. Here is what I have tried since then with no luck, recalibration of the esc multiple times (will not recalibrate after pulling the trigger fully in and red light blinks twice it goes right to flashing green before reversing the throttle), ensured all the way set points are at zero for the epa, erased program #1 on the transmitter, made a new program #2 so every thing would be factory, put my esc in my son's Traxxas which uses stock rx and tx (esc worked in his car), switched motors in my car, tried multiple batteries in my car, changed batteries in transmitter. Also I did reverse the servo and esc plugs in the rx (servo in channel 3 esc in channel 2) and the esc and the greet light was solid had throttle with the steering and steering with the throttle, and finally I tried re linking the rx and tx. I'm at my end and it's probably something dumb hopefully someone can help...

Your radio has the ability to reverse the direction that a channel operates. For steering, this could be used to correct if the car was turning left when you turned the wheel to the right.
When an ESC is struggling to calibrate, reversing the throttle channel of your radio can sometimes help.
Go the REV menu and reverse channel 2 if it is currently set to 'NOR', set it to 'REV'. If currently set to 'REV', then set it to 'NOR'. Recalibrate the ESC after doing this. Be extra sure that checked the trims and sub trims of channel 2 and that they are at 0.

Ok thanks for the help here is what I found so far, I put channel 2 in Rev and green light came on solid and car acted as expected went in reverse when trigger pulled back (also tried recalibration but it goes soild green as soon as I pull the trigger when it blinks red twice before pushing full reverse) . Now the interesting thing I put the Rev back to normal, double and tripled checked all set points for channel 2 were 0, I then set the EPA % settings for forward and backwards to 0% green light went to solid green, I upped the forward percentage back to 100% and green light stayed solid but as soon as I started putting backwards to 100% the green light went off at about 12%

From what you've described it sounds like you are not doing the steps for calibration properly.
Before you start, make sure the trims and sub trims are at 0 for channel 2. Make sure the EPA is at 100% for forward and brake and channel 2. You'll need to pull the trigger then set the EPA to 100 for forward, then push the trigger and set the EPA to 100 for brake on the radio.
Then calibrate the ESC by following these steps:

That did it, I followed your steps setting the EPA with the trigger pulled in, was doing it without pulling the trigger before. Also when calibrating I was holding the esc button until the red light went off, all seems good to go now. Thanks for your help mushroomed
