charge 1s lipo while plugged in
#1
i was going to ask this in the mt44 section but its more of a general question.
is it ok to charge a 1s lipo while it is still plugged into my radio?
My thought process is to wire in a splitter and add a port to the side of the radio to charge from via something like this https://www.amainhobbies.com/expert-...caAh02EALw_wcB
the next option is to go to a wireless charge pad but that looks a little more involved then id like to do right now.

Probably no reason to do this. Don't know how many cells your using but my 3PK uses a 3300 3 cell Lipo and when I raced twice weekly, i only had to charge it once every 6 months. NiMh had to be charged more frequently.

Normal NiMh can lose a lot of charge after a week, and over a winter they can be empty or gone below the lowest safe voltage (0.9v) what will harm the cells. Eneloop batteries will still have their charge over the winter. I think the transmitter use AA cells? The white eneloops are 2000mAh and there are black with 2300mAh. On my old Futaba T3VCS I could do more than 8 hours on one charge 2000mAh eneloop.

I have a li-ion powered dremel that wasn't being charged properly by the standard charger. I added 2 bullet connectors to it and now I charge with my RC chargers. I just put some electrical tape over them since they are wired directly to the battery.
No issue charging a battery while it's in your radio.
You might be better off putting in a barrel connector since it's just a hole and it would be easy to make a charging lead.

it seems alot of people are going with the 18650 cells as well on the mt44 so i may try that first but the lipo is a bit easier imo.
