Default Smallest 4S capable brushless esc

I remember my Tekin Mini Rage being 4S capable, and I’m pretty sure I ran a Mamba 25 on 4S with the BEC disabled in a 1/10 ST back in the day. Not seeing any 4S options in the 1/18-1/16 platform now, but I’ve been out of the hobby for awhile. Anything out there?

This is designed for 1/10 cars, but might be small enough to fit a 1/16:
Size( length X width X high): 47x41x29mm

If you can live with 3S, this one is a little smaller:
Size( length X width X high): 45x32x20mm

Yeah... I can run a CC Sidewinder at that size. Might just need to check if the MicroX would support with BEC disabled.

Depending what you're using it for, this is very small but crawler focused and for brushed motors... https://holmeshobbies.com/holmes-hob...r-br-mini.html

I’ve got a dozen or so brushless motors to test but mainly want to run 4S with a low kv motor in a 1/16 Summit. Seems the Mamba Micro X could if not software restricted.

Just curious, why do you want to disable the BEC?

The extra voltage has to be dealt with when stepping down to the 5-6V to run the steering servo, which results in extra heat. A lot of esc’s could run higher voltages as long as the internal BEC is disabled.

It will not. We do not allow 4s input on any product with a linear BEC because the BEC will run very hot even without a load. On our older products, there was no max voltage so it would allow for any pack to be used. To reduce returns from use outside of our ratings we had to put a max voltage lock in place.
Our current smallest 4s ESC is the Mamba X.
Length: 2.14" (54.4mm)
Width: 1.39" (35.2mm)
Height: 1.18" (30.0mm)
No need to disable the BEC on the Mamba X because the BEC is rated for 8A at up to 6s.

Thanks for chiming in Robert. I’ve been meaning to reach out before moving forward. I was actually involved with the original Mamba 25 and Mamba 1/10 scale esc’s. When Shawn left, I lost my main technical contact there. Haven’t seen Patrick in ages either.

‘Best regards,
Jamie
