Ko Propo EX-10 Helios outdated?

I didn't buy it, I haven't talked to the guy yet, but I'm not afraid of the DSM. I have 3 DSM receivers and I've never had trouble with any of them. I also have 2 dsm2 receivers and never had any problems with them either. At my local track they only run 5 drivers at a time so the waves aren't too saturated.

Just an update for you guys. I tried contacting the guy with the Helios and didn't hear back yesterday or today. I was browsing around eBay and I found a sanwa/airtronics mt4 with 6 receivers for 160 shipped so I bought it. I may still pick up the Helios if I hear back from the guy but we'll see.

It’s a great radio and $50.00 is a bargain. Only downside is trying to find a new module if that one fails... I had 2 modules go on mine and now I can’t find a replacement... If you pass up the opportunity please DM me as I’m searching High/low for a replacement module.
QUOTE=kutless;15617185]Hey fellas. I have a guy offering to sell me an EX-10 Helios with a 2.4 GHz module for $50. It's in good shape but I don't know much about it. I know it was a good radio in it's day but it's been out for a while and I don't know if it's still decent by today's standards? If anyone has any thoughts or anything they think I should know I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.[/QUOTE]

I have been running the ex10 for quite some time now. I had seen other racers have problems with them losing bind from time to time. I had it happen a few times. Once I was tq and was leading the race and all of a sudden i lost bind. I finally figured it out though. The modules on these are not a snug fit and after a while the small movements of the module will start making it lose contact . What I did to fix it was take 2 really small screws and screw them in 2 corners of the opening across from each other where the module plugs in.That's been a few years ago and haven't had one problem since. Just thought I'd throw this out there as it may help someone. It's a great radio.

I talked to the guy and told him I would take it, I just haven't gotten it from him yet. With the virus stuff going on it makes it all a bit more tricky. But when I get it if for whatever reason I don't like it I'll let you know.

Okay so I know it's off topic for the thread but I got my mt4 in the mail. I'm going over it to make sure everything is good and tested 5 of the receivers and all is well but the 6th one (airtronics #92724) I can't get to bind. I noticed all of the other receivers had the modulation marked on them except this one. So I googled the model number and it looks like it's DSSS. Does anyone know if that's right? If so I don't think it would be compatible with my radio.

Okay I finally got my Helios. Haven't got a chance to test it yet but first impressions... It's way bigger than I was expecting. But it feels excellent in the hand. Better than my sanwa or my spektrum, as well as all of my other odd and end radios. Hopefully it works out for me. I'll keep you all posted.

Okay, I got a chance to test out the radio. I stuck the receiver in my TT-01 and I just kinda did a slalom in a parking lot near where I work. Maybe I'm crazy, I don't know, but it seemed like a definite improvement over my dx3s. It felt more dialed, more like I was in control. Maybe it's in my head, but I like it! So thank you all for giving me the nudge!
