Default Glow plugs- Is there a difference in these:

Hey guys,

I just picked up a FX K302.

1) I heard its ok to use OS plugs in the FX. True?
If so can I use the gold plugs instead of regular? (I have a couple P4 golds already hoping they'll be good for extremely hot days. )

2) Is there a difference between X3 thats recommended and P3 gold plug (other then the gold aspect)?

3)Is there a difference between the OS P3 gold plug and the new Protek Samurai P3 gold plug?

I'm asking because on amain the X3 plug $13.99, OS P3 gold $10.75 and Protek P3 gold $9.60.
If its no difference I'll just get a couple of Protek P3 Golds and save a few bucks over the long haul.

Clearly if there is a difference then I'm not going to risk a good engine for a few dollars in savings.

Thanks in advance.

So I can say 100% for sure that the Bullitt P3 glow plugs come straight from os glow plug factory. Id assume that the samurai p3 and protek p3 do the same. I have the FX engines and have heard that the x3 glow plugs come straight from the os factory too, I have never ran a p3 in my engine yet but I am on my last FX plug and am switching over to the os/Bullitt p3 plug next time it needs a new one.

samurai and protek plugs are made by SH not OS

Incorrect, Only the T series plain "protek turbo plug" is made by SH.
The samurai plugs are P3's made by O.S Engines.

Do you run the gold or regular turbo plug.
I've heard there are slight advantages to the gold plugs and I have a couple of gold p4's so i was going to either hold them for hot humid days or see about exchanging them out for the gold p3's

And those advantages are?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read that the gold was just to mark their 80th anniversary...that's it. I mean, the wire coil isn't gold, just the plug itself, so theoretically a gold and non-gold plug should last the same amount of time. I don't see any advantages other than being easily found if dropped in gray dirt, but I am willing to have an open mind.

Someone asked drake in a clinic Drake told us months back. The difference between gold and normal is only 2 bucks(at that time I know pricing changed) he said there the same plug same performance.

Per AD, the gold plug is slightly crispier on the bottom. (I just asked)

You know, he sells O.S. engines with his name plastered all over them...

I like the guy, but he may be a bit biased as all of his AD2 and RD (Ronda Drake) engines come with the gold P3 plugs. So the skeptic in me says to take what he has to say with a grain of salt.

I'll take Drakes word over anyones, period. He has been a staple in this industry and the most honest person I have ever met in RC. I'm making the switch to OS for 2022 and have been asking him alot of questions. I haven't purchased anything from him. All 3 of my OS engines have come with the gold plug from factory. I'll stay with those...
