Eh, I've found Tekin to have less reliable products (I've had a couple of ESCs gone bad). So because of faulty product, I've dealt with their customer service more often. As far as reliability, I've never had a single issue with my Hobbywings, Castle, or Orcas. Much more robust.

Tekin does not stand behind their product, they'll just "sell" you a new ESC at their own cost instead of repairing your item. It is their business model. I don't know why so many people see this as a positive back then. Granted, things are probably better in the 5 years that I've gotten rid of all my Tekin stuff. But the 3 times I dealt with them have been negative.

Take my experience with a grain of salt. I have not dealt with Hobbywing customer service yet. *crossing my fingers I don't have a future issue*

Does your product have a marking on the UPC stating that it's part of the "AUTHORIZED DEALER NETWORK"?

Their policy is very clear, if you have that marking on your product, then the USA distributor needs to honor it, if not then your issue is with the "Discount Store" that this policy is trying to protect the rest of us consumers from.

Did you also read the fine print on the policy for reverse polarity?



It sounds to me like you may also have a misunderstanding of what "Reverse Polarity Protection" means, you still need to replace the caps at your own expense based on what I am reading:

I am surprised that the HW Tech doesn't simply sell you a replacement cap bank?

I personally like the feature of being able to replace the caps as opposed to junking the ESC, I choose to stay with HW ESC's knowing that I have that extra level of protection. They have also provided deep discounts to replace any electronics outside warranty which has helped keep me as a loyal customer

I have seen G2’s be severely damaged still from reverse polarity. It seems more marketing tactics than anything.

Although I have not reversed the polarity on any of my ESC's I do know of a local racer at the track who recently blew out his caps and simply replaced them, no issues for him after swapping them out

To op you have 2 options
1st is nitro house.contact them if you dont get a nib item replacement then
2nd is paypal claim

Ive never had any issue with Tekin products.

What kind of damage? Were they functional afterwards with caps replaced?

I have had this same issue with hobbywing. Stated that a motor would only work right with the sensor wire unplugged I tried new wire and motor and they kept telling me it was my motor but they all work fine on a stock Spec esc. Not sure I’d buy there products again

It was never hooked up backward. It never went into calibrate mode. They do not care!!!! Yes it had correct I.d. barcode on box and yes Nitro House is an authorized dealer. Nitro house is taking care of it like a professional the opposite of what Hobbywing has done. I do not dictate map pricing or care what it is. Easy Nitro House will get more of my business and Chinawing will get none of my business.

The OP is misleading, you stated:

Now you are claiming that the problem is that they couldn't help you get the ESC into calibration mode?

Sounds to me like a miscommunication issue all the way around... they probably already lost you as a customer and never had a chance before you first contacted them.

I would be willing to bet your calibration issue has something to do with your transmitter settings... I have seen calibration issues in the past when folks don't have the throttle perfectly centered, if you have any negative trim or ABS brake enabled, then it won't calibrate per the manual, I would double check your radio and follow the calibration steps very carefully, they can be tricky... I've helped a lot of guys at the track who were going stir crazy and couldn't get their ESC's to calibrate to save their lives, then once I show them, they're like "Dude that's all there is to it?"

At first I thought it was annoying to have an external bank of caps to have to mount independently from the ESC, I've seen some folks do a poor job and they flopped around and got chewed up by the center drive system, but I think it's worth the risk by having the flexibility to easily swap out the cap bank if something goes wrong... I have never had to swap the cap bank, but I know of 1 guy who recently popped his caps and replaced them without issue, also heard of several others on the forums who also have successfully replaced their cap banks after reversing polarity.

two other older HW speedos calibrated to exact same transmitter settings on different models. As well as an orca in another car. I have only been racing RC cars for 35 years so ya I probably have no clue. Conclusion: Speedo defective out of the package!!!
