Just spent some time practicing and trying to really focus on throttle control to minimize errors. Consistancy is improving with practice. First run was 10:32, second was 8:56 (538s)
with a fast lap down to 5.50! I've hit a lot of 3 fast lap sets then make one costly error and have a hard time shaking them off. At least I'm not hitting the rails as often!

If you are stuggeling, you can try different things.
1) Remember to breath!!!
2) harden or soften your steering wheel if possible. Some like it hard and some like it soft. I do like it really soft, so I don't GRAB onto the steering to much and get tense.
3) breath again....
4) never focus on fastest lap......it's a 75 lap race and you don't win in the first corner...
5) breath again....
6) have fun
7) if you can, you might want a negative steering curve around zero, so your nervous shaking hands don't affect the steering. I got -15% for testing and up to -25% is very normal.
8) breath again....
9) take a break to let motor at batteries cool off. AND YOUR BRAIN FROM MELTING
10) maybe breath again....
11) repeat
Did I mention that you have to breath?
But I found out that 5-8 min run and a break with charging batteries is quite effective.
So I tend to just use 1 set of batteries all night. Then I get breaks from concentrating and electronics gets to cool off. And the batteries become better and better during the training session.
I would suggest using 1 car at the time, so you get to know that car and that track.
Do minor setup changes to find out what really is happening.
And maybe breath a bit....

My first practice I left it in training mode and just tried to not hit walls for a half hour, was exhausted! Then turned it off and just tried to do my best and SLOW down for turns 3,4,5 off the straight and find a fast line on a 7 second lap.
1&7) As soon as I hit the triple 5.5, 5.6, and 5.5 I crashed into the first corner early being nervous after hearing the time and realized I held my breath for the last 15 seconds!
2) How do you harden the steering wheel? Replacing the rubber?
4) I tried my best to not focus on my fastest lap during the races but it did get me excited. My goal was to hit consistent laps no matter what the lap time. If it took me 6.3 to go around without hitting anything, do it again same throttle every turn. I'd eventually find myself pushing a little and then making my mistake after 7 laps or so. Like you all said from the start along with the MC3 book: I'm really looking for 10 crash free laps first. Or so I tell myself.
7) I seem to enjoy the twitchy steering because I like throwing the car into turns at higher speed and sliding out the rear a little. I know it is probably inconsistent and a bad driving style but I enjoy it, especially on our clubs larger track.
I agree with all of your points and you are right, after my throttle control issues, it's time to focus on breathing aswell.
PS: I only have the 1 car for now and am getting used to it. I did a lot of mods I really didnt need and not the ones I needed. Racing an MR03 with a PN70T motor, ceramic ball diff, brass 4th gear, v5 Motor mount, disk damper and oil shock. Marka rear tires, PN mediums in front.
PSS: I bought my car used and it had a drift to the left that I cant seem to fix. I thought I found the bent component and replaced it in the steering arm(?) The part with the ball on the end. My right steering trim is almost maxed out to the right, and I still drift left slightly.

2) harden or soften steering is a option on transmitters. Not all have it, but Ko Propo have it and I love it. If you want it harder you can also switch out the return spring to a stiffer one.
About the PSS: can you reset the car?
Just get your car to go as straight as possible.
Turn of the car and then transmitter
PS, dont touch the front wheels!!
Then hold the pairing button down and keep holding it and turn your car on (transmitter off...)
Hold pairing button for 10s and then turn the car off.
I never remember if it 3s or 5s or 4,53672s, so I say 10s.
Then 2 things should be done.
Check your adjustments on the transmitter. You would like to zero out the steering again before you turn on your car.
Use ICS to setup up your car all over again
btw, what transmitter do you have?

Dont forget "Blink" Almost as important as breath...
I tend to prefer a slightly stiff wheel, the soft spring can sometimes not center fully off the corners, and it becomes difficult to know if its a radio or car issue when the car isnt centering.

I just ran three back to back 75 lap runs with my stock 70T F-430 GT car (305.3, 309.1 and 295.8) and I'm already almost 3 seconds faster than by best Jan clockwise time. CCW is just more natural for me. Is it because I live in NASCAR country???

Yeah remember to "blink" also.
Most people prefer stiff steering. But I have to try to relax, so I prefer the very lose one. And I always adjust it to center of course.
And since most transmitter are very stiff, I had to really adjust to that driving stile.
