I find the that the PN70 has a bucket load more grunt then the stock silver can motor so that is a big help here. I also think having a rear dampener is a huge help, it is amazing how much you can change the character of the car by changing springs or running different fluids on the dampener and you can combine this with front end mods to have a car which is much more composed than a Box Stock car.
Jim, looking forward to seeing what you can do CCW!

I agree with all that Jim said here, and would add gearing to the list! The PN 64p gearing I use in Stock is more efficient than the stock gear diff, and allows many more gear ratios, so you can better find something that works well with the motor you are using and the particular layout. But its mostly the motor. The PN 70T is much more powerful than the stock motors. But I am running the stock gear diff in Pro Stock and I'm faster than in Stock. LOL I use the KO Propo EX-10 EURUS with all my cars...

Good call on the gearing, I just recently went to 64P and the difference from .5Mod was huge.....Just so much smoother. With that said I have not played with ratios all that much. I usually gear it more for motor temp than anything, old habit from flying e-powered planes, and I am less likely to gear up because a motor is running cool but maybe I should play around with that at least on my Stock car since the motor runs very cool.

Jim

Well, I got my sub 320 time in Pro Stock! A 313.445! Couldn't get a good mesh with the 7t pinion, so I kept the 6t and switched to a 44t ball diff and I could get around the course consistently faster. Still shooting for that sub 300 time.

For my birthday coming up I decided to order a mini96 and another 32332 mclaren readyset. So that will make 3 of us all together for the box stock and then my GLR which would be 2wd open?
In any case, I still need to find a place to set it up! Not enough room at home so looking into options...
Stay tuned for more questions about rules and regs regarding tires and stuff as they pop up.

Welcome and glad you are joining us.
Traveler, that is correct. The Evo is not box stock legal I am afraid.
The Wee Man and I set up my track this morning, I ran a pack trough my Box Stock car and it amazed me that it takes me a good 20 minutes to start to get any muscle memory back after not running for a month.
Cheers,
Jim

Looking forward to you putting up some times. It wasn’t as fun being the only one posting times this month with no one to compare to. Any chance you can get some of the others they were participating in the past to rejoin?

Can you share the rationale for no EVO electronics in Box Stock? I’m not sure why it would be excluded.

I discussed this matter with EMU in the early days and I decided to make the EVO board ineligible because of the ability to tune the board with the ICS software which very likely would give a significant advantage to EVO cars over Ready Set cars. From doing some reading of the rules at various tracks it seems that most venues do not allow EVO cars in Box Stock.
I can't believe I have not gotten any times up yet. I can usually get some laps in during the day but I have been flat out at work after a week of visits and then a trade show. I should be able to get some laps in after work today and hopefully get up to speed, I have not been fast at all as of yet but started to get the hang of the track so times should be dropping.
Cheers,
Jim
