Its official! I'm faster running counter clockwise! I've beat both by clockwise times in Box Stock and Stock running counter clockwise. 352.454 vs. 355.706 in Box Stock and 323.757 vs. 328.687 in stock. On to Pro Stock!

Managed to shave a few secs of my box stock time but still way to many mistakes. Counted to 17 mistakes in total during the 75 laps. Really need to get that number down before thinking about increasing speed.

When you do your best times, do you manage to run 75 laps without ever hitting the walls coming to a complete stop?

I don't worry too much about brushing the wall, because I don't think it slows me down much, but I try to avoid hitting the wall where the car comes to complete stop and I have to reverse and turn before I can go again. On my best runs, I only have 2 or 3 of those. I can post my individual lap times for my best run when I get home if that would help...

Thanks for your input! I don't think I need to see individual lap times but 2-3 errors in a race sounds like a reasonable goal to strive for. Even though far from it yet...

I am tempted to shave off a bit of the front spoiler to lessen the risk of getting stuck in the wall. But reading the rules that seems illegal in the box stock class. Not sure if it is even allowed in the stock class?

I love data, so I went back and took a look at my best runs this month in Box Stock and Stock.
In Box Stock, my average lap time was 4.699, my best lap was 4.346, I had 6 laps in the 5.xxx range, two 6.xxx laps and a slowest lap of 7.386. If you consider the 6+ second laps as containing mistakes, I had a total of three on this run.
In Stock, my average lap time was 4.317, my best lap was 3.950, I had 3 laps in the 5.xxx range, no 6.xxx laps and a slowest lap of 7.261. If you consider the 6+ second laps as containing mistakes, I had only one!

Nice going boys, good to see some times being put up. I have been faster a couple times as well when going CCW even though it does not feel natural, I do wonder if it has something to do with the side of the rear end that is driven or the diff?

I am back from my North East tour for work and ready to put some laps in. I am hoping I can set the track up this weekend and get my bearings going CCW and start setting some times.

I also just bought another MR03RWD. I though about going with an Evo but I just do not see the value proposition, if they had a Rx for my Futaba 3PV I would have been more tempted. If GL offered a GLR in 94mm I more than likely would have gone that way but since none of that is possible I stuck to what I know and am happy with, not to mention what I have parts for. This car will be another Stock car at 94/98mm, I have pretty much everything I need to build a decent car and a bunch of bodies in those wheelbases. I love my 90mm RM Stock car, by far the most fun car to drive but not as fast as a MM car plus I have all these bodies. I will be setting up this car with a old Atomic V5 94mm motor mount,PN 70 motor, PN Fiberglass Disk Dampener, and Inverted King Pins so VERY similar to my other MR03's.

I do find it funny that when I first started I thought all you guys were crazy having all these different chassis's and here I am adding a 5th car to my fleet.

Cheers,
Jim

Look forward to having some competition. I just posted my improved Pro Stock time, and I'm happy with my box stock and stock times, but I'm running out of month to get more runs in because of upcoming work travel. Will keep an eye on this thread from the road to see who's coming for 1st place!

Congrats on new addition. I just told my LHS to hold another EVO for me! They are sweet!

I think that depends on the class you are running and what you consider a mistake. There is brushing a wall and collecting a wall, brushing a wall may only cost you .2s but collecting a wall may cost you 10s if things get ugly. My last months winning box stock time I do not believe I ever stopped the car but my fast 2WD Open time the car stopped a couple times so I think what makes a good race is dependent on the class.

Cheers,
Jim

Tried to slow down the pace and managed to make a box stock run with just a couple of brushes and three stops. Improved the total time with about 12 seconds even if the fastest lap was a little slower.

Good job! It’s counterintuitive, but slower is faster. Took me a long time to learn that. A fast lap means nothing. Consistency is the goal. Then consistently faster! 😂

So I improved my best time in Pro Stock by a fraction of a second, but would really like to get a sub 320 time. A sub 300 would be awesome, but likely out of reach. May try a 7t pinion next, although I really like the 6t.

I am curious about how you can be so much faster in stock than in box stock. Since the motor is similar I assume it has to be something with handling? What would you say is the main difference and how does it allow you to be faster? Would also be interesting to know if you use another radio or if you use the KT531P also in stock/pro stock?

I find the that the PN70 has a bucket load more grunt then the stock silver can motor so that is a big help here. I also think having a rear dampener is a huge help, it is amazing how much you can change the character of the car by changing springs or running different fluids on the dampener and you can combine this with front end mods to have a car which is much more composed than a Box Stock car.

I am running the stock KT531 on all my cars with the exception of my GLR. I am actually OK with it but it does take a few laps to get use to after running the GLR as I use a bit of Expo on the GLR.

My track is going up this weekend and I am looking forward to running some laps. Have made some changes to the fleet and I am looking forward to seeing how they work out.

Cheers,
Jim
