Default Transmitters/Receivers

I know it may sound dumb but can a transmitter bind with other receiver types? I just bought a Futaba 4pv and I'm wondering will it work with a Traxxas receiver..

No it will not. Futaba transmitters need Futaba receivers with the same protocol. And Traxxas transmitters need Traxxas receivers with the same protocol.

Also, it says it has a 40 car memory. Doe this mean it can bind up to 40 cars to memory, or is the memory more for the settings of the vehicle currently bound.

You can use the memory for 40 different cars or combinations of different settings for the same car.

this just means that you controller can link a maximum of 40 receivers to the radio.
