Had my first race in USGT this past Saturday night at Banana RC in Richardson, TX. Was running my TC7 (have a TC7.1 that is almost ready) and while I was not on pace with the regulars that race there, everyone was super supportive and encouraging, even a couple guys noticed that my lap times were improving through the evening, and encouraged me to just keep driving my line and putting down laps. Was very refreshing to have "racers" encourage rather than be annoyed that it was my first race in "their" class. I live 3+ hours from the track and it was nice to feel welcomed over being felt to be an outsider.

Thanks to all that were running @ the Banana this past Saturday for On-Road Saturday night !! Looking forward to being able to head back down to run with you guys some more.

Moreover, reading through the last several posts, the appeal of USGT to me is the realistic bodies that this class runs. I was running a PF Caddy, there were Corvettes and the Exotek P-Zero's. Cars looked great going around the track - even my Cadillac in last place!

And, of course I want to be more competitive and to be on pace with what the current guys are running lap time wise (I was on average ~0.5 to 1.0 sec slower per lap) but I will need to spend some time tuning and trying different setups. As it was, didn't have any things to change, ie., like springs, etc... I do know I would need to soften the suspension up some, as I was running the kit springs - which I'm guessing the fronts are just too stiff... Anyway, again, just wanted to thank everyone for the good time as that sure makes a difference and that all too often people don't have a good experience when running a new class the first time - especially at a track that isn't their home track.

Here's my setup at the track (1/12th scale is my first love)

Default It works!

Well I finally got it painted and decaled. Need to put the mirrors on, find my led lights and get the buckets installed.

First time out the body worked decent. A little loose in the rear, but good enough for a TQ and win. Managed to not make contact with any other car, so shes currently blemish free

That looks great. It is nice to see a European body that truly looks like a race car.

With that that said what is up with both you and Raman painting German race cars grean? Don't you know that green is considered a unlucky color on anything other then a British car? LOL.

Cheers,
Jim

I think it's your fear of body damage that makes you faster. No rubbing if you're half a lap up on second place. And waiting for lapped traffic to wipe out before passing, lol.

I didn't make it out unscathed, but was still a blast. My ill-fitting "190mm" ATS.

Great body, great paint job! I couldn't find it on the Deltaplastik website, but I found it as a BFGRC body. And it's on the USGT legal body list! But it is a 200mm body, so you will be pushing more air.

hahaha Jim!

My 911 RSR is actually painted to copy an actual club racer.

as for my 911GT3 that my son uses on TT02S.. it’s blue.

Personally, I found this particular Tamiya body set with its gold decals on black a little boring.. so I opted for different colour

I plan on doing another one soon.. but will probably opt for canary yellow.. ala Ruf CTR Yellow Bird

Saw a couple prototype versions of soon to be released bodies from a well known body maker that are going to be very popular I do believe. Keep your eyes open

With so many pages and the search function not directing me to the correct pages, I am resorting to posting.

Does anyone know if there are places running USGT in Iowa? Or where to look?

Thank you,
Chris
