Thank you for the tips everyone, I will see how the car feels with no drag brake. I just recently picked up a programmer, and saw HW does 10% by default.

Questions??

Hi everyone. I'm at the point of buying a used X1 first model for about 180$ (including cirtix club race esc, speedpassion 21.5T, savox servo and 2 lipos that have been sitting for a year). The electronics will have seen their best days probably, and the car is 3 generations old, but as I am re-entering the hobby and trying to see if F1 suits me, I'm thinking this could work for me.

Is this a fair price and a good idea?
Can I still get all the parts and/or upgrade the car with some '16 - '17 - '18 parts if needed? Any known flaws?

I'm looking for a class I can drive both indoor and outdoor. There are a couple of clubs in driving distance (<1hr.) Was looking for 1/12 (pan or supastox) at first. Might still get a used combo as well to compare.

to run AE pivot:

4728
4637
4726
cut the wings off of 4726, it will be super obvious when you try to bolt it together

bolts right on

much more consistent

I was able to use the existing pivot ball (same profile) so you don't really need 4637 and save $15.

Thanks again to Jay for the original recommendation, wished I did the conversion sooner!

What gearing do you all recommend for 25.5?

That's a fair price, I payed a little bit more for my 2015 with side pod upgrades. You can still get parts and 2018 parts will fit, but it's not worth upgrading everything.

I asked this same question and it's a tough one. It depends on your track and driving style. I started with the factory spur and 29 tooth pinion just to get a feel for the car.

My suggestion is to start low and work your way up as your skill improves and you get the car feeling good.

Not sure on the 18 pivot ball. I only have the '17.

If your pod is already setup perfectly, you probably won't notice much of a difference with the switch, at least I'm not that good enough to tell. But it is one less thing to worry about in a crash or every time you do some disassembly. You can have a big crash during a qual/main and not worry as much about tweak affecting the rest of your run.

Hello can you send a photo, cut top wings and only bolt lower bolts? [email protected]
Thanks

What bodies work on the 2015 X1 (370700)? I've heard that not all F1 bodies fit.

I use the Xray factory body, it really is the best out there, plastic quality, fit, aero, I find none of the others acceptable in these ways

Yes, its a full sealed gear diff! Its butter smooth and will pretty much change the game. I predict by the end of the year we'll all be running a locker or the gear diff!
