Default Tires

Just picked up a 2018 x1 and am new to on road. We are going to be running on new crc black carpet, what is the favorite tire for this carpet. Also you guys were talking about a spool, are you doing this yourselves or does someone make one.
Thanks, Tim. Great info in this thread!

pit shimizu 74&75 with side glue on fronts. You’ll want to have a nearly locked diff setting, but not entirely locked, that way, if you crash, you wont break the axle.

The CRC or the Gravity pre-mounts are probably the easiest way to go..

would be great if it works on both asphalt and carpet with graphite chassis.

Some guys are having great success with carbon chassis on black carpet recently. I'm going to try it out on my '19 X1. Should be fine on gray carpet at 209 too, probably different setup.

carbon is lighter and will grip more due to flex , alu flex is for high and ultra high bite, which takes some of the edginess away. I've driven both, both will require slightly different setups to work optimal.

Default Xray x1 gear diff

Anybody experiencing leaky x1 gear diff? Mine just keeps leaking even though I’ve lubricated the O-rings. Any tips on how to keep it from leaking?

Yes, leaky o-ring by the right tire and clamping hubs that slide off the shaft seems to be a problem right now. For now I've packed the orings with green slime or blue slime and enlarged the slots of the clamps.

I also like to pay close attention when I put the hub on the right/diff side, I try to make sure I pull the axle out and keep pressure on that o ring then I try not to push it back in when I put the hub back on, seems to make a big difference for me.
Been thinking about adding an extra shim under the pin to take out some of that freeplay on that side also.
