Schumacher KC 2wd Buggy

Yes I did get the ball diff in. Made the car more predictable from middle out of the corners. It wasn't so erratic and power out of the corner was a little smoother for me as well but a little of that is my AE slipper pads are breaking in and working great for me.
I'm very close to the Orloski's Reedy setup from 2017 and especially with the shock oils, springs and pistons. I'm at 500wt from and 350 rear with red rear springs and green front springs. Huge difference in my car as well as I took that weight out of the front of my buggy that was under the servo. I'm going to get the 4 degree toe block setup to mess with as well as I'm running the stock 3 degree rear strap. My other setups are pretty close but I'm a little different on the my shims on the rear hubs and on that camber like by 1 mm more on each part of that. His setup along with the Tony Newland's help have been great. Tony's knowledge of the overall and what some adjustments do that I was fuzzy on really has been a huge help in the massive turn around in my car a my home track. Not use to running a lay down type tranny car and how aggressive they can be and especially this week are track had more traction that it had in years. Also not really use to ever needed to run that high of oil in the front of my buggies before.

Im back from the Reedy race and had 7 days with the team and cars on 2 types of surfaces. Med-high bite at SDRC and med bit at OCRC. We all made tons of changes testing the cars responding to the conditions and we definetly have a good grasp on what changes work better on either. My results sucked, but Mikey ran really well and missed the bump into the Open A main by 1 spot. The cars worked great all week. If you need more help with grip or getting the feel your after let me know. We made alot of progress last week

I will say the biggest thing I bet was the heavier front old (500 to 550) range really helped to start calming my car down and then I go back and forth between the blue and green front springs. I just got the lasts piece I needed to be able to get Orloski's full setup on my car if need be and that was the 4/1.5 degree mounts. Now I have everything to duplicate your setup or his anytime I want.
I been taking notes on setup changes I didn't know what they would do but now I do so its much easier to make a change.I'm really liking the 3 hole pistons (1.5 front and 1.6 rear combo). Few other things I did was remove some drag brake and learning to run with less and I have a nice smooth 10.5 motor that other than a pure race down the straight has been plenty fast but I find I can drive in the groove vs running a 7.5 turned down.
I'm getting older and most of the guys in the A when I make are 1/2 or more my age so honestly my goal is just to have a great working car that I can drive consistently and I happy all while doing it with my Schumacher makes me even happier because I know I can do it with a AE but where's the fun it that as I feel almost anyone can do that.

I remember being the younger guy but now I'm the older guy who on occasion turns back the clock and gives the young guys a run here and there.
I do have a question for you and if you guys messed with this. Looking at other brand car setups on shocks and I see especially on Losi and AE some of the guys run a 3 hole piston but then drill a 4th at 1mm or a 2 hole piston and add a 1mm hole? Not sure if you guys even bothered with something like that. The other thing is I wonder if Orloski will post his 2018 Reedy setup because I would like to see what a difference a year had made to him setup wise vs the 2017 Reedy race or how much different your setup is from your normal setup. My thought is once I get it dialed at my home track the other tracks I race at in the winter are close so I will only need very minor changes from track to track.

About the only major changes to my std setup was 500/350 oil and red springs all around, rear shocks laid down all the way, short rear link with 4mm rear inner washers. Ill put together my setup and get Mikeys from the race. I believe all of us, Michal insluded ran pretty close to the same setup at OCRC.

Thanks Tony. Sounds like you guys really tried a good amount of stuff. I'm going to stay with the 3 hole pistons and work off refining that setup at my track and other two places I go to. Sounds like the best starting setup is the Reedy Race setups if your on Medium to High bite tracks with the KC in position #4. Seems like a nice place for guys to start and dial in from their. Every car has a spot that is a good all around spot and I think the Reedy Race setup might be that setting.

We tested quite a few shock pistons at SDRC and OCRC over the week. we kept coming back to the 1.5/1.6 3 hole. I do want to test something like the Tekno pistons... 2 hole with 4 small holes. Im curious how they would feel slow speed vs high speed dampening.

Tony I saw Michal’s setup posted on the Schuey website. What CVDs was he running? The KR ones or the the MIP? How did he get 3.5 rear toe without the brass block?
#580
That’s pretty much the same setup we were all running except I ran red springs all around 500f 350r oils and shocks laid all the way down, rear hubs forward. And I ran the brass rear block
We used new 3.5deg front blocks. So I ran 4deg total rear toe
They should be available soon

That will be nice to have that extra half degree in the toolbox, and then be able to run 4 degrees rear toe and the brass is great.
And what about the CVDs? Schuey seems to be the only ones running universals out there. They seem nice on carpet but not so much on dirt. I run the MIP puck setup they made for the SV2 a few years back with the aluminum gear diff outdrives for stock.
