Never owned a belt car till I got the KC. How tight should the belt be?

mod motors less than 1/8" - stock 1/8" or little more. remember new belts will stretch a little (5-6 runs) check again! once you got it set right and check when doing reg maint belts last a long time just changed front belt on K2 4wd (2 yrs).

I just bought a KC. I’m really looking forward to racing it. I’m expecting it to be butter smooth on the track.

How good is the kit setup? Any recommendations on battery position for high bite carpet?

How noisy is the transmission?

I was told to build mine with motor in position 2 for our carpet tracks, feels awesome to drive! (also the most used position if you look at setup sheets)

It's a bit louder than a b6/xb2 etc, but black grease on the sidegears keeps the noise down

Good to hear.

It can't be too bad and with a little advice I bet it will just fine.

I'm looking forward to try thing bad boy out., see how it compares to my xb2.

I've just bought a KC. Looking forward to getting it and seeing how it compares to the other buggies I've had.

What would be a good starting setup for a small 45ft x 21ft mixed surface tight track?

It's on a sports hall floor (slippy wood) with sections of carpet with a few small jumps. Track is smooth but I'm not seeing that many setups on petitrc? Is there a better resource for this buggy?

I’m looking at this or the X-ray xb2

Have you had both?

Where do you get parts?

I've raced my KC only once so far and really like it. Initial build setup worked really well on my local turf track, I'll be running a couple more races before making any major tuning changes to really get a feel for the car.
One thing I'm not really clear on is what effect moving the rear shocks to the from position accomplishes. Any comments? Thanks!

Thanks for the input.

Check out the Hudy tuning guide. It explains a ton.

Interesting read, thanks. I'm still curious about the forward mounting position though and how it changes the handling as that wasn't covered in the Hudy guide.

Running the rear shocks on the back of the wishbone reduces rotation, it feels like the rear is more locked in for traction. Also it rides bumps a little better and feels like a safer car. Moving the rear shocks in front of the wishbone adds rotation, increases corner speed and generally results in faster laptimes, providing there is enough rear traction.

Another way to make the KC as quiet as possible is to eliminate all the gears. I have tested the following option on astro with great results: rcbelgium.com/cougar-kc/38-schumacher-kc-pulley.html

With that pulley the loudest aspect of your KC is no longer the transmission but the tyres and motor
