Hello all,
Very few racers at my local track discharge in the pits however, a bunch discharge/condition there batteries at home.
Is there an advantage to discharging every race or would every couple of race days be just as beneficial?
Thank you

Some people cycle their packs (full charge and discharge cycle) at high currents to intentionally warm them up before a race to lower the IR. It reduces the lifespan of the batteries though. There's not much point discharging at a low rate every race. I never bother with a full discharge cycle, I just storage mode them at the end of the day.

It is the "RACER" spec of way to discharge @ 40A and charge them @ 40A to PEAK the battery performance at its best. Also, the battery need to be use/run within minutes after charged, otherwise, there is no benefit of doing so.
I can't really bother to do that type of "cycle" as that 0.1s faster is not going to get me to A-main.............even though I have the charger/discharge bank to do so.
But it is something new to learn.....

With lipo there really isn't anything to condition. Discharging or charging at a high amp rate only helps by slightly heating the battery. A warmer battery has less internal resistance. Once the battery cools back down any advantage is lost. You could achieve the same thing by taking the battery and warming it up in your hands or an inner coat pocket but the advantage is minimal.
