The Kashima coating is harder and smoother than the stock bodies (inside and out). They are worth it if you need to replace the original bodies due to wear and tear AND you are looking for every micro advantage you can find. If you are a mortal like myself who needs the best bang for the buck, the stock bodies are more than adequate.
Personally, I have never broken a plastic shock cap on my 10th scale AE cars in the last 6 years. Also, I'd rather break the shock cap than whatever was next in line to take the hit.

I'll see how I go with the stock bodies before I decide to upgrade.

I actually think the stock shock bodies are by far the worst and lowest quality item in the entire kit. They look and feel like $3 shock bodies you would buy on ebay in my opinion. Also, my brand new kit came with one shock body with completely warped threads which makes it a huge pain to screw in the bottom back and the shock collar.I will leave them for now, but I will definitely not be be buying the stock ones again if I ever have a problem.

I noticed recently Cav switched to the JC F2 body from the S1, does anyone know why? Indoors? Larger track? Just something new? I love the Proline Predator body but none of the Team guys run them, I guess it's a tire thing too.
What's a good body for outdoors, large, hard packed dirt track with 100-120ft back straight?
