My local track now has a Roar spec 17.5 2wd buggy class and I was looking to put a car together. Now I am familiar web a mod setup but I can't make heads or tales from the regulation what is acceptable. Now I think I can turn the can timing where ever I like. Can someone please explain the difference between a Just stock Esc, a stock spec esc and what am I allowed to have. I understand that the Just stock has punch but now boost or turbo. And I have idea what the Stock Spec has and what I can use. Thanks In advance.

For stock spec classes you must have an ESC that is on ROAR's approved ESC listing as you will need an ESC that has a blinky mode, which just means 0 boost and turbo. So you can have any high amp rating ESC and use it for a spec class as long as it's approved and blinky mode is turned on.

On the other hand, the Just Stock esc is only able to handle the ampreage that stock rated motors put out. If you tried to use the Just Stock with a mod motor you would fry the ESC.

So, if you are thinking about possibly running mod classes in the future, you should think about getting an ESC that can handle mod motors while also having a blinky setting to give you flexibility in the future.

It does thank you. I do run a Just stock esc with my 21.5t USGT car with no problems. Could I do the same with a 17.5t.

Yep, you shouldn't have any problems running it with a 17.5 motor. I would just make sure that you are not gearing your motor too high for your track and conditions.

Hobbywing spec sheet says the xr10 justock will handle 8.5t on road and 11.5t off road. I have them in my trans am car, world gtr 13.5 and stock buggy. I did have one in my stock short course but the brakes were severely lacking so I opted for something else.

Your ESC should have a setting that turns everything to the default values.
Ie. Blink mode.
