I'd like you to do a factory reset on this controller before you send it in. A fresh software update could cause an erratic condition, and it's always something we recommend after an update.

We just did a video on how to do this:

So I just got my new RX8 Gen3 from the trade in program and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Tekin sends a retail packaged Gen3 ESC. I was expecting just an ESC in bubble wrap lol. Definitely worth the $$$ spent.

Default 2 pole

Do I have to change anything to run a standard 5.5 540 motor on the rx8?

You don't, but I would suggest changing the timing advance in the speed control its maximum setting. 4 pole motors prefer to have the timing set near 0, but 540 2 pole motors need 20-30 degrees for peak performance. It might be a bit sluggish with the default timing.

Default Rx8 issues

Ok so I had some issues today with my rx8. I was at the track about 5 minutes taking it easy and I punched the throttle and my buggy made a funny noise on throttle. Then reverse didn't work, then it would only spin the wheels if the tires were on the bench if I picked the buggy up it wouldn't. It was flashing 12 67 lights, the chime stopped working and a clicking comming from the motor. I just put a rx8 from another car in for now but I'd like to fix this one if anyone can help me

Stop and check your motor. Time to open it up and look it over.

But the speedo after the motor is disconnected still has no chime I havnt hooked a different motor to it yet tho.

I hooked up another good motor to the ESC and same issue, 12 67 wrong motor type. So my conclusion is there is a short in the ESC. I just updated it to the v258 software the night before. I updated it again and did a factory reset, same issue and no chime. Does anybody know if tekin will repair it for me or am I SOL?

The speedo doesn't emit the sound by itself, it actually forces the motor to make that noise. So it's completely normal for there to be no sound without a motor connected.

We can of course look at it. Contact [email protected] or go to Tekin - Service Department and get the process started.

had lots of problems yesterday racing

my get 2 RX8/tekin 1900 motor in 1/8 ebuggy was cogging/turning off all throughout my runs! I replaced sensor wire, that wasn't it
I'm thinking its either sensor board on motor OR esc connection between the boards
I had throttle then none then back on every couple seconds
sometimes It would lose steering also and transponder was not being picked up every lap
ALSO, If you pull gas trigger nothing happens, IF you push it and pull gas while rolling motor gets power

any help?
thanks
