The pictures I've seen of other cars did not look like the edges were done. Wasn't sure if there was a reason other than not knowing to do it, not wanting to do it, or that it shouldn't be done for a reason.

But going to do it anyways.

I always sand and seal any CF chassis regardless of class. I doubt that it has any serious impact on chassis stiffness but it does help stop the edges splintering etc.

Maybe if was going to be a shelf queen and never see a track I MIGHT leave it as is from the box

I'm now running my TRF102 on asphalt and wondering about the best front end for it. I have the narrow standard one and the F103 wide front. I had it setup with the F103 front and 103 wheels for carpet but have stopped running that now and just running asphalt.

I need new wheels and tyres as we were running foams. I was planning on getting shimizu 575 rear and 573 fronts, but could pick up F103 rubber if thats better.

Is the narrow front end the way to go?
Or should I get the shims to adjust ride height on the F103 front to run F104 wheels.

I would rebuild the car put it back to stock settings using the medium t-bar or the carbon fiber berserk one. Since you are switching to Asphalt I would start fresh this car will tear it up on an asphalt surface with the stock settings the only thing you will really need to change is the rear spring play with the Lube in the rear damper and adjust the front Springs I would use pit 571 572 combo works the absolute best especially Outdoors. I would definitely use the kit front end that came with it and if you want to change the steering characteristics mess with the tie rod outer ball settings on the front upright start on the outside closest to the rear tire and move the ball stud in if you want the car to be more aggressive you can also use the trailing axle as opposed to the inline axle on the upright trailing will make the car a little easier to drive and smooth it out depending on your surface this car is fast I have been racing it for a while it is extremely smooth and predictable if you've been using your front springs for more than 2 or 3 months they tend to wear out if you took a used one off and compared it to a new one you'll notice it's about a millimeter shorter so that's something that can mess with the handling overtime make sure you put on new front Springs every 2 or 3 months have fun good luck this car loves asphalt

I usually use Tamiya tires 1031 and 1032 they are the same as the pit 571 and 572 they are just sold by Tamia and have a TCS logo on the side of the tire TQ racing stocks them and they mount to the f-104 foam Wheels TQ actually has a nice tutorial on how to mount the tires to the rims online.

Thanks thats great advice. I will rebuild back to stock and go from there. Luckily I have a few sets of kit front springs so will check them out. This car only runs once a month, weather permitting, as thats all the racing around me. I could run twice a month if I run indoors and outdoors butnhave decided on outdoors only.

One question reharding the tyres - are 571/572 the best combo with sauce or still good without it? We can't use tyre sauce. Also, the track is setupon netball courts so it can be really dusty at times which is why I was leaning towards the 575/573 combo, more stable and less steering. Its easy to swap ends...

I tend to use 573/575 on a similar surface to yours without sauce and it works pretty well. I race at night and its usually pretty cool as well. I would only look at 572 if the temps are higher but if they are really high then swapping to Ride rears usually works for me.

What Ride rears are you talking about? The GR? I can get Ride R1 cheap at the moment, its tempting to get them to try out but no point if they aren't any good

I wouldn't go for 571 fronts unless you need a lot of steering. Even if the temp came up I'd be tempted to stay with 573 fronts unless they just didn't balance the way you want.

I use R1's simply because i have a supply of them left over but they do the job for me. I believe the GR's do a similar job just more robust. I've been informed that the Gravity F1 tyres are rebranded Ride tyres
