if you can please post pictures of your modification. I've been seriously considering getting the spectrum but a couple of guys had wierd issues on the track this weekend with 'em. I say it was wierd because before their cars worked fine bout 1 out of ever 5 races they complained about loosing signal. One racer said as a turn marshal got btwn him and his car the car went dead.!!!!!!!!!! So i'm not sure. But on the other hand alot of non specturn drivers had problems as well on the back straight away.

What is the likeliness of the spectrums causing interfarence with the non spectruls an visa versa? Its seems to me that the more spectrums we get on our track the mroe problems we seem to have, but that could just be my imagination.

Anybody know if the spektrum unit will work with the Futaba 3PJS radio??

Its just a little snug .just requires lite pressure to press down and slide it on.

It works with the 3PJS. I just got mine this weekend and I think besides the brushless motor systems & Lipo batteries, the Spektrum is well worth the money.

I got mine yesterday and installed it. Binds nicely. You need to re-program your ESC and re-do all your transmitter functions (EPA, etc..) I love not having a huge antenna tube in the car! Looks better IMO. Only thing that I feel is a little strange, is that the voltage display on the 3PK now goes a little haywire.. It's not a solid 10.7V anymore, its more like a 10.3 to 10.7 with the last digit toggling 100 times/sec. Anyone else notice this? If not, I'll give Horizon a call.

Track test tonight, I think we have a winner here! BTW - the latency @ 5.6ms is VERY quick. Faster than my HRS system.

Decided to buy another transceiver to put into another car yesterday. That did not go well at all. The transceiver did not work and I have to send it back to Horizon for repair/replacement. My original system works fine in my car but this second transceiver (which is suppose to be from the new batch) doesn't power up to bind with the transmitter module. I bypassed the switch and linked the battery directly into the transceiver and the light would just briefly flash then go dark. So, for those buying another transceiver(s): beware that you may get one that may not work properly.

I have just fitted mine and i checked the voltage display and it held still on 10.6V for a good 5 minutes without changing

All I know is I ran mine this past weekend and I love not haveing to worry about the antenna or getting a frequency clip. The only thing that was different was getting use to not pulling the antenna up and the balance of the radio without the antenna.

Thanks Dan ... That's strange. I'll have to check it out more. I know if I just turn on the display, voltage acts like normal. If I turn on the main switch, voltage goes haywire, but does not affect how the unit performs IMO.

It seems I spoke to soon about the cover fit on the 3pk. Last night I got home and did a modifiication of the slide on cover. I was able to simply remove the center brace of the cover, and then dremel out a hole for the antenna and the bind button. I did not have to dremel out a big square area as seen in a mod in an earlier post. I did NOT have to dremel out clearance for the fact that the spektrum is slightly thicker than the stock tranmitter module. The cover is then able to slide back on, making for a real slick appearance. Unless you look very carefully, you would never know that it was modiified from the original cover.

It was a VERY tight slide on fit, but it does fit.

I also found a fairly neat solution to the open hole left by the original whip antenna. The hole is filled with a drive axle from an old Tamiya FF02. I was just looking around my basement work area for something that might fit and saw this old outdrive, which used a larger inner bearing and a smaller outer bearing. That gives it a lip that can be neatly contact cemented to the hole's rim. It is a chromed piece, so it looks almost made to fit. Best of all, it can be very quickly pulled off if you need to replace the whip and use the original transmitter modulue.

For those who might be looking for something that is not a glue fit, and who will be pulling the cap off to replace the whip antenna on a regular basis, I did find a second best solution. Check out a husky 6 in one mini screwdriver, the one with the various tips stored in the handle under a pull off red cap on the end of the handle. They are about 6 bucks at Home Depot, and the red end cap is just about a perfit slide in pressure fit that will stay without glueing. It just seemed a shame to scrap a $6 screwdriver for the end cap when my chrome driveaxle works just fine for me.

I will try and take a couple pictures tonight and post them.

I pushed a cap that is used for HUDY drivers into the hole...works great, same diameter. Little loose, but a dab of shoe-goo fixes that if you decide to not use the OEM antenna anymore.

The gold and black versions have a different cover...

The gold ones can be modified like yours, the black ones are thicker and have no centre bar, so I had to remove a lot of material on mine...

wrxnfx - What brushless esc and motor are you running with the spektrum?

I just ordered a U-Force 75, Kontronik Twist and 2packs of lipos. I'm wondering if the U-Force will work with the 3pk spektrum? It was also mentioned earlier on this thread, don't remember who, but seemed like no one has tried this yet?
