The WERKS GT engine is further establishing a firm position in the GT class by winning the 2nd round of the Brazilian Nationals. Driver Nando Lima used a standard GT class engine with the Hipex 2115 pipe. After the 500 laps of Brasilia, the Hobby21 Cup in Rio de Janeiro and now the 2nd round of the Brazilian Nationals, the WERKS engine has won 3 out of the 4 most important GT class races so far this year.

This tread has been quiet for some time now, and I would love to hear from other GT class drivers around the globe about their experience with the engine, and would like to help as well where help is needed in terms of adjusting and tuning the engine to get the best performance out of it. Please let us know about your experience...

I had my first race this weekend with the Werks GT engine in my MGT7. I'm pretty sure as a result, several other people at my track will be buying the engine! It was clearly making more power and had more speed than other engines on the track. Due to a very tight race for first place and a mechanical failure on my car toward the end of the race, I placed second. I'm very happy with the new engine.

One thing of note, I did notice the set screw that holds the carb in place came loose and therefore wasn't keeping tune. But that's my own fault for not checking it and putting thread lock on it.

Werks makes great engines!! I have used them in my Nitro GT car since before the 5-port rule (B5s and B6s). Got good fuel economy and held fantastic operating temps with the Byron's Fuel I used in them. To me, it is not surprising that their GT engine is doing what it is doing at competitions thus far.

I have been using the B5 and B6 in the GT class, but when I got the prototype engine for testing, I knew that this was a completely new thing... If you liked the B6, then get yourself a GT engine... it will surprise you

After the first couple runs, you need to tighten that screw again as the materials are seating in. May I ask what fuel and plug you used in the engine? And congratulations!

Is there somebody on here that will participate in the GT World Cup in December in Buenos Aires, Argentina?

Is this engine something you can put in a buggy, or better yet, truggy? Maybe something similar to the old RB Fire - an engine made up of some onroad + offroad bits, but which had more power than most others? I don't really race or care about run time. I just like silly power.. Thanks.

It's specifically made for the GT class, but honestly, I was tempted to put it into the buggy once just out of curiosity... And it's not just an engine made up out of onroad and offroad parts. It's specifically designed for the GT class, the internal parts are not identical to the offroad engine line, crank and even the conrod are different.

I will eventually. Got a few irons in the r/c fires right now and have put Nitro GT on the back burner for the moment.

Great, looking forward to it! We will be a good group of WERKS GT drivers there.

Sounds good, this time I put some thread lock on it and really cranked down on the screw. But will keep an eye on it since it's still very new.

I used Byron's 20% fuel and the OS RP7 plug in it. I used the stock plug for the break in process as described on the Werks website. But then switched to the OS on tank #8. It worked great!

Perfect. That's the way to go. If you go higher on Nitro content, just make sure that you measure the piston to deck clearance. For 25%, we are adjusting to 0,65mm, when using 16% (as will be used at the World's), we adjust for a clearance of 0,55mm, always using either RP7 or even RP8 plugs.
