So a bunch of people at my track got the B64 club racer. It's a super solid car. The downgraded parts from the FT kit don't really decrease performance as they all just seem to be the bling stuff.

The only thing that is not the greatest is the servo. Car comes with the correct spur and they even throw in a pinion. If one is running 4wd stock I don't see a reason to buy the FT kit over the club kit.

How is the motor versus what is common at your track (assuming you have a 13.5 class) and what the servo isn' that good specifically (torque, transit speed)

This will give you an idea. One of the fast guys ran his brand new club racer in open 4wd tonight. Pos 1 and 2 are B64D with much faster motors. Pos 3 is club racer.

SDRC Raceway :: Fill Em Up Friday :: 4wd Open Buggy A-Main :: LiveRC

And then this is the results of 13.5 4WD where most were running brand new b64 club racers. Times are not that far off.

SDRC Raceway :: Fill Em Up Friday :: 13.5 4wd Buggy A-Main :: LiveRC

As for the servo it is a bit slow for my taste. I use a Spektrum S6240 on my TLR 4.0 and I can notice a difference.

I will bring my motor analyzer next time I go and see if I can get a ballpark of actual timing of the motor to see how close it is to the claimed 45deg.

Ohh and I bet that the included pinion is for a pretty conservative final drive to keep temp down. With a fan you can prob gear more aggressively.

From what I saw.

Shock caps are composite vs aluminum
Towers are graphite vs carbon
No front rollbar
Diff gears are composite vs aluminum (better for stock most would say)
Steering plate not carbon

The B64/D doesn't come with alum shock caps.

The shock towers are the same as the regular B64/D kits.

The plastic gears are a huge upgrade for 13.5

Overkill but I run a 2274 savox with my BEC at 7.4 volts. I love the speed/tq of it.

That club racer is a good deal. Contemplating getting one for my oldest daughter soon. She's loving 2wd stock buggy racing and already has a few 1st places in the novice class. Pretty sure she's hooked.

I want to get back into racing and I'm really interested in the club racer. I've always raced 2wd and 4wd has always looked super fun. The only thing is due to my schedule and local track being an hour away, I can probably only do one club race per month. How popular is it looking at your local tracks? I'm more worried about going out and not having a class to race in. Would it be better to pick up the b6 club racer instead?

I'd suggest calling the track and seeing how turnout is for the classes that interest you.

Out here the 4wd class at 2 of the closer tracks is technically open, with one of them being small enough (the track) that it really ccomes down to driver, fastest guys are running 13.5 . The new track here I run 13.5 in open and I love the power delivery. I would say if the club spec interests you, give it a try.

Other tracks in the region have gone to spec 13.5 for 4wd. Its definitely growing.

Yes definitely check your local track. Here in California my local track has a 4wd 13.5 class that's blowing up. Just like 2wd 17.5.

domoshish, call that track and ask them for entry numbers, maybe see if they broadcast on liverc.com and you could look right at their heat sheets.

It is telling that AE has decided on 17.5/2wd & 13.5/4wd for the club racers. No major brand has done an rtr or artr that included "only" a stock motor that I can recall. This shows a strong national trend that AE saw an opportunity in.

2WD stock is all the rage where I'm at. There's 3 race days per week and there's always guaranteed to have 2-3 mains of it. Usually 2 groups of sportsman and 1 of expert.

Just ordered the kit. Anybody use the TLR Alum servo horns? Do they fit? I have a Savox servo (1258) and a Protek (100ss). Just curious if I need an AE horn..

I have the Tekno horns as well.
