Default New 12TZ stuck TDC

Hi,
I picked up a NOS OS 12tz and have noticed straight out of the box it is stuck at TDC. I have not tried to turnover as yet, but would like to know my best option as it is visiblly dry inside. Probably been sitting around for 8-10 years. No bungs were on any of the openings.
Do i preheat and lube or disassemble first......
Anyone..

If it did sit that long then yes, it is better to take it appart, remove dryed up oil if there is any and re assemble it again with fresh oil......

Thanks Roelof sounds good, the only other concern I have is moving the piston from TDC as it is in the taper area and dry. How best to free it without damaging the piston or sleeve once stripped down...

Mount a flywheel for an easy turn and remove the rear cover, from the position of the crankpin you will see which way to turn to avoid the piston going through the TDC.

Hello all, Just built a 3.3 and as expected the piston is getting stuck at TDC. I tried warming the engine before starting it and just turning it over for a while without a plug to hopefully free it up a bit but nothing's helping. The EZStart can spin it half a revolution until it gets to TDC then it sticks. Once in a while I can get the ezstart to spin it a few more revolutions before getting stuck but that's it. I even tried putting a pull start on it and I keep breaking the cord. What can I do to free this up a bit? A friend of mine bought a revo with a 3.3 about a year ago and he had the same issue. We ended up hooking the EZStart remote up to a 12v car battery to give it enough juice to spin. Once it was running a but the issue went away. I feel if I could get mine to at least run once I could have the same result.

Your story tells me you have actually no clue why a fresh engine is that stuck and how to deal with it. Most wise it to heat it with a paintgun and if that is not enough you can unscrew the glowplug an half turn to lower the compression.Use a glowstarter to start it with the EZ start and when it runs screw the plug tight with the glowstarter and a wrench..
