Wow... that was an in depth rebuild I didn't even go that far when I ran off-road back in the ol' loamy dirt days. But it was still a very interesting watch. Do you get that in depth with every rebuild, or just when you replace a chassis?

I just wanted to make sure everything was clean and in order since I was installing a new chassis. When I'm just doing routine maintenance, I'd never go that far and would take shortcuts along the way. Prior to a big race, I do a rebuild that goes even further with new ball cups, plastics, and wear items.

So what is the advantage to running the metal 2 piece cross pins in the diff vs the plastic single piece for the planetary/spider gears?

Doesn't wear out. Slightly less friction as well no doubt.

But does add marginal weight obviously.

the pins are anodized, polishing wont have much of an effect. Even if they were raw aluminum or steel, polishing cross pins is getting to the point of ridiculousness! And i do quite a few questionable and overkill things myself.

Polishing off the anodizing on the pins will also save at least 0.001 grams, translating into less rotating mass overall...

And now Sobue is gone.....

So much for keeping domestic drivers as some thought.

Yep, it's a shame he has gone. All of the other 'Pro' drivers have also left.

So I thought I got a new 419x. I was apparently wrong. Meet the newest Tamiya driver.

Luckily she works for cheap rates and possibly even travels on planes for free.

Part of the TRF wage reduction strategy in effect.
