Default Spectrum DX2E Endpoints?

Howdy Gang-

I have a DX2E that seems to be behaving badly. It is acting like the endpoints are set to about 50% on both channels. As far as I know, thought, the DX2E cannot set the endpoints, and only the steering channel has a Duel-Rate dial.

Symptoms -

Steering throw is greatly reduced, about 50% of "normal" throw even when DR is set to Max. Also, on throttle channel, if I bind the problem radio to a car, the throttle only gives me about 50%, until I re-calibrate the ESC.

Anyone know if there is a "Fix" to this? I am pretty sure this was not an issue until a few months ago.

Thanks,
Jerry

Ok, I called the Horizon help # and got it fixed. They walked my thru the re-calibration process.

Apparently, with Spectrum remotes, if you hold the throttle in 100% reverse when you turn the radio on, it goes into calibration mode. The light will start blinking, and it will not control the car. Tech said most people don't know what they did, and turn the radio off, and that throws the calibration off.

Correct Calibration process - start with radio off.
1. Set throttle and steering trim all the way to the right.
2. Hold throttle to 100% reverse, and steering wheel 100% right, and turn radio on; light will start blinking.
3. Release trigger and wheel. Move throttle to 100% brake, then 100% throttle, then release.
4. Turn steering wheel all the way right, then all the way left.
5. turn radio off.
Done!
Don't forget to re-center both trim knobs when done.

As I said, the Horizon tech walked me thru this, and now everything is working great again.

Thanks, Horizon! Nice to see there is still good customer service around.

Jerry,

Did the Tech at Horizon happen to discuss how to adjust the Endpoint settings?
The manual that comes with the DX2e refers to a method that does not work but the method you've shown works for entering program mode. The manual goes on to show the SEC but it doesn't seems to be working?
The problem I'm having is that the left turn throw is shorter than the right turn throw and resetting the steering doesn't seem to correct it.

There are no end point adjustments on the DX2E. There is a knob to adjust the total steering throw (travel) but that's not an individual EPA for left/right.

Default endpoints

There is a nice video on youtube that explains endpoint setup on the DX2E
Type in the search window
spectrum dx2e travel adjustment setting. The video is 2:43 long. Details it perfectly.

Default Set endpoints DX2E

Ok, I wrestled with this one for a day or two and managed to get it sorted by combining all online advice;
BEWARE: Although the above mentioned video does set you transmitter to full throw, it has no relation to your car/servo combo, thus not setting your specific endpoints. Also; the procedure mentioned to get into "program-mode" didn't work for me!

Endpoint set Spektrum DX2E
First bind your remote to the receiver as described in the manual (bind plug, switch the remote on with the "bind" button pressed). Follow the complete procedure; full throttle, full brake, full right, full left. The remote and receiver are now calibrated (sort of). Switch the receiver (car) off and remove the bind plug. Turn the car back on and test all controls. Chances are that your steering is not exactly set up correctly, either the wheels don't reach lock or your servo is buzzing trying to push the wheels further.

Here's the trick I found out to finetune the steering (set the endpoints);
Turn your remote off, but your car ON. Hold the steering wheel to max-right and the trigger to full-brake at the same time. Now turn the transmitter back on. The green light will start blinking. Now you can use the steering wheel to steer and... use the steering-trim button to set the correct end point! Turning the knob rigt gives more steering, left less. Beware: once set; release the steering wheel FIRST before setting the trim button back to center. Repeat procedure for the other side. Now turn the transmitter and the car off. Place the bind-plug and re-bind and re-calibrate receiver. Turn the car off, remove the plug and turn it back on.

You're all set! Endpoints set correctly, full steering and no burning servo.

I find it bizarre that Horizon seems to be unable to provide correct procedures for their own kit, but anyhow, hope above helps you out!

You are sort of right; there is no physical knob to adjust, but there is a procedure to set your specific endpoints!

I recently purchased (Feb 2023) a used/as-is DX2E radio with no documentation. I was searching on how to program the end points of this radio and this thread popped up. The information posted above in the thread is correct.
also
I was able to find a downloadable/printable PDF manual on Spektrum's website that also contains this same information. The manual contains the procedures for adjusting the end points on the throttle, brake, and left/right steering. Here is a link to the DX2E product page on Spektrum's website (https://www.spektrumrc.com/product/d.../SPM2330.html#)

The page above contains links to download the SPM2330 manual in Italian, English, French, & German

Here is another link for the DX2E (SPM2335) which has a 3 position throttle switch and 3rd channel 3 position aux switch
(https://www.spektrumrc.com/product/d.../SPM2335.html#)

Below is the information from the manual on adjusting/programming the travel endpoints in the radio.

----------

CHANGING THE TRAVEL ADJUST SETTINGS DX2E

The travel function supports precise endpoint adjustments in each direction for the steering and throttle channels.

1. Hold the trigger in the full brake position and the steering wheel in full right position while powering on the transmitter. The LED flashes rapidly, indicating the programming mode is active.

2. Throttle End Point: Hold the trigger in the full throttle position. Turn the TH TRIM knob to adjust the full throttle end point.

3. Brake End Point: Hold the trigger in the full brake position. Turn the TH TRIM knob to adjust the full brake end point. Return the trigger to the center position.

4. Left Steering End Point: Hold the steering wheel in the full left position. Turn the ST TRIM knob to adjust the left end point.

5. Right Steering End Point: Hold the steering wheel in the full right position. Turn the ST TRIM knob to adjust the right end point. Return the steering wheel to the center position.

6. Power off the transmitter to save the travel adjust settings. The minimum Travel is 75%, and the Maximum travel is 150%. The default travel settings are 125% steering and 100% throttle.

IMPORTANT: If the travel is changed on the DX2E, you must rebind and calibrate AVC® Receivers.
----------

I hope this info helps
