Do sensor boards just GO BAD?

Default Do sensor boards just GO BAD?

I bought a motor on here last week with 15 min of run time on it. Super clean looking motor upon arrival.The seller said he checked it before packaging up. Being its a Novak 25.5, I wanted to check the timing and amp draw before mounting it in my F1. On the Gforce motor checker, I get no A,B or C leds lighting up when rotating the armature by hand. It will run the motor in the KV mode, but slow. It won't run the motor in the timing mode.
I believe the seller saying it worked for him, so do these boards just work then go bad? If so this would be my first.

Sensor boards are pretty simple, electronically speaking. Having 3 sensors go bad all at the same time is beyond reasonable probability. Have a good look at your sensor wire connections -- I suspect a bent power pin on either the G-Force side or on the motor side.

Thanks for your reply. After running it on the KV mode, the C timing sensor lights dim. If I rotate the rotor, the light goes out and none light up. Tried a second sensor wire, the same. Tried another motor and everything worked as it should. I'll check for a bent pin on the motors sensor port.

Upon further inspection, I believe I didn't seat the sensor harness deep enough in the end bell. The rubber boot around the connector (Novak) is snug and I didn't have it fully seated. Thank you V-point!

Yeah, that sounds about right, those boots are good for keeping dust out of there, but they are a pain to get the sensor cable connector plugged in completely. That was the first thing that occurred to me when you mentioned it being a Novak(I have one of them myself, using it in my VTA car)....

I found with the Novak motors is to loosen the 3 sensor screws and then plug the harness in and tighten the screws back up. Same when removing the harness. Just remember to check where your timing is before you loosen the screws.
