USGT

I am fairly new to racing and I can give some perspective as a newbie about the something that limits me and makes it harder to get into USGT.
1) The minimum weight requirement is actually something I care about and in my opinion makes it feel like I am less competitive. In my opinion you should be increasing the min weight, not decreasing. Something I struggle to understand is why you would want parity with ROAR instead of distinction (specifically around weight).
2) The approved body list is quite large in my opinion. I feel like there is a great selection to choose between, however I find myself limited due to weight requirements. I would be much more likely to choose heavier bodies if I didn't feel like it was such a stretch to keep my weight down.
While I understand the other posters in this thread stating that the best drivers will always rise to the top. My response to that is I am trying to have fun and be competitive at the same time... I don't want to feel like I'm giving up the fun part to be competitive.

It means less wear and tear on the tires too, especially on asphalt.
2) Valid point but my cars are underweight regardless of bodies so a few bricks of lead are added when running lighter bodies so it really becomes a matter of where do you want to add weight- the chassis or the body?

1) I like the new lower weights. It means I can run the same chassis in multiple classes just by switching from the USGT body and tires. No more messing around with strip after strip of weights too- ugh!

As for your response to number 2... As a beginner, it would be nice to not have to worry about that. It would be better for me if weight was a secondary issue around balancing the car as opposed to making sure that all the goodies in my car were light weight versions. As I get more experience I learn all the tricks... but is that the way it should be if you want to attract more people to the sport?

Keep in mind, a higher lid weight is a higher cg. Car rolls more-and especially on the new black carpet thats not wanted. Even still, i went with a tamiya nsx concept just to be different then everyone at my local track. Sick of seeing the same thing. Body didnt handle that bad, and the car was slow enough and predictable enough to be ok for me to drive. First time ever in the class, and i cleaned house with tq/win. Bottom line, concentrate on your driving, and youll do ok regardless of wht body is on the car.

Yes that makes sense. It's all about trade offs. Rob has to figure out which audience he is going to cater to. In my experience at Ripon Raceway, very few people run the same car in different classes. In fact the people who run two classes have two separate cars. but your point is fair, the more you can race the more fun you have.

In the end its good that so many of you enjoy racing USGT that you need to come on the internetz and have these "spirited" debates or dishing out a horse beating. If this class sucked no one would care...
With regards to the list if there is something that you would like to see please send myself or rob a message we are always willing to look at a body and see if it fits with our class structure.
With regards to Flying M he has one of the best bodies for this class(MX-STANG) that just keeps getting lost in all the back and forth about another body. The MX-Stang is lightweight compared to PF bodies and it mounts much much lower on your car....which IMO is a bigger concern than the actual weight of body. Sorry the other one does not fit with what we are doing.

Hey Bob,
It's not so much the body posts as it is the shock towers. Test fitting on my TC7, a T4'16 and a TRF419, you simply cant get the rear of the body low enough. The shock towers hit the air channels. The 190 version will have some "design concessions" made in this area to create clearance, as well as being narrowed up to better fit the track width.
