Kevin,
Not trying to be difficult here, but how would one gauge the response of people wanting to "keep it open" when that is already the case. It seems odd to expect people to go out of their way to voice that they want to keep something that is already allowed. Does what I'm probably failing to articulate make any sense?

Before we had the body list people were asking us why DP's could be raced because they were not true GT cars and well we didnt really have a rule in place that prevented them from being raced. With the growth of popularity of the class this started to become a bigger issue for us. Both Rob and I had people come up to us at races or send us messages about their displeasure of the DP bodies being allowed. So that being said given what we were seeing and hearing we made the call to just close the door on DP bodies all together to elevate this problem.

Kevin-
I understand the pressures you had from your local area. Terminology does seem like part of the equation though, since there is no real definition of GT. Since you are indicating that a Prototype car that is run in a GT series is OK, makes me pause. But also a body style that is totally made up just for RC cars that has never run in any full size series is legal, also seems pretty odd.
But the horse is dead and it is your rules, that's why I haven't said much about it, just sometimes it's hard not to. I still appreciate all your hard work to make racing happen.
Thanks

USGT is the best class for getting new blood into RC racing. Speaking for myself in that regard.
Now what it needs is some hard rules regarding legal bodies. The NSX and the DP are too close, some others too. I think USGT needs something like the JGTC and other racing classes had: minimum height for certain parts of the bodyshell to keep the cars from looking like doorstops. For example minimum 3,0cm from ground to front bumper, X ground to roof and so on... That would negate doorstop/blobs lookalikes and be fair to all manufacturers and racers. Right?

Bottom line is the NSX looks like the street car version and is a car that was raced in a GT series. The NSX is and I believe never classified as a Prototype. The DP corvette is a prototype and it doesn't look like the actual street or GT version of the car. The hard rule has been set, no DP, or Prototype cars allowed.

Japan GT series cars used modified production bodyshells, just like all GT cars of the day, and even today. The roof, pillars and windshield were all from the production models.
The Corvette Daytona Prototypes share no body panels with a road going Corvette, except for lights. They are not GT cars.

These designers are very talented and will never in real life be allowed to design a sports car body of their own design. I run new Tamiya body and it isnt any faster then the 9 Cadilacs that are in most of my races. Racing is a monkey see monkey do. Our races there are 3 bodies run #1body is the PF Cadi #2nsx #3honda hsv not very many of them but a few. That is about it and if im forced to stop running Rikiri body i will move back to the Cadi body and join in the Cadillac brigade that is see racing in my area. I can only go by what we do here it could be all a$$ backwards out here. We race on a 185' track it maybe different on carpet.
Just my .02 it mho thanks once again for all you do i see a cadi back in my future.
