I got mine in February of this year and it says right on the box that the aluminum motor mount is included. So unless they changed that recently, it should come with one and if it no longer does, then they should have updated the box to reflect that.

The TT02D Type S that I built last year didn't come with an aluminum motor mount either. As far as I know only the TT02R comes with the aluminum motor mount

hmmm, I'll let you know if mine comes w/ or w/o motor mount. Either way not a big deal. I plan on getting all the usual upgrades / those you all mentioned.

As for gearing, yeah I have lots of 64p gears from my on-road race cars ...so will probably use some of those to fine tune everything to my liking. My goal here is parking lot racing, -so going to try TRY to stick w/ just the necessary upgrades.

Those old school Porsches look really cool IMO, but the HPI body will handle better.
Yeah, I had an HPI cup racer years ago w/ the Porsche body. The body sure looked good, but didn't handle as well as other bodies (your totally right). I believe my kit arrives Saturday ...but I have races all day Sunday, so probably won't be able to open my kit and get into it until next week.

New body for my TT-02 when not drifting. I don't mind bashing this one up a bit. Sometimes you just want to go fast.

Just had my first non-drift run with mine. It does pretty darn well with the new body and soft street tires on 2S and the LEDs are glorious when the sun is setting. It's begging for more speed though. Unfortunately, like all touring cars, it can't clear the transition from old pavement to new in the middle of the curve in front of my house so I have to stay on the straight section. That's just not as fun as taking the turn at high speed with my XV-01. I'm going to need a smooth, clean lot and a freshly charged 3S pack.

That Ferrari body w/ lights ...WOW! looks awesome. Nice job.

I got my TT02, its sitting on my work bench still in un-opened box. Spent all weekend racing ...so didn't have time to open it but can't wait!

I've had great fun with mine so far. Made a few 3S passes this weekend but I'm going to need a bit more room in every direction as it tends to torque steer just a hair with 3S power and I'd like more room to correct it without fear of it slamming into a car tire, mailbox or trashcan at 60 mph. The drift tires are going back on it tonight. I might keep the LaFerrari body on it for a while though. Tamiya really did it up right.

Hopefully this work

My better half and I built his and hers TT02s. Just parking lot fun, but I've got the bug now and it's quickly turning blue. I just ordered a Hobbywing Justock 17.5 motor and esc combo.. just in case I need to make the drive to a real track.

I started my TT02 build yesterday.

I can confirm that the TT02D type S kit does not come w the aluminum motor mount. Yet the entire drive shaft including the propeller joints are aluminum (which is nice). Also the shocks are actually oil filled ones, I was expecting the cheaper "friction" dampers Tamiya puts in some kits. -So that was nice.

I ordered an aluminum steering setup, proper cv joints for the front and aluminum motor mount. I think that should be good as I don't plan to race this one, just parking lot fun.

I plan to run the stock torque tuned motor w a Lipo 2s battery and traxxas esc (which will handle the brushed to Lipo setup nicely). --have those parts in my spares box. (Knew they'd come in handy one day)! -photos to come.

...some build photos!
(also working on my M05VII there on the right side ...waiting for a new rear shock tower to come in as someone rubbed me in my last race and broke the shock connector)..
