Tools Every Newbie Must have: Stop borrowing my stuff
#16
The RC community has always been very helpful. The pits I have been in are warm and fuzzy environments, generally. I have never or almost never seen someone needing a hand, a tool, or a screw they are missing not get help. It is just the way it is, thankfully.
After a few trips to the track no one wants to be that guy that is always asking for things, however.

The guy asked a question people were just responding with there opinions.. I have no problem loaning out tools..advice.. etc.. But it is nice to have at least the basics to begin with. I started with alien keys and sore fingers.. Didn.t stop me from getting to the track..

This is actually pretty easy. If you're a newbie (rookie, new racer, noob) you should bring everything that you used to build your car/truck. Tools, tape, scissors, etc. EVERYTHING you used. Odds are, you don't have that much stuff. From that point on, if you need to borrow a tool TWICE, you need to buy your own. (because I'm not borrowing you mine anymore, I'm not the Snap-On man
)
Once at the track a couple of times you will see and experience what tools are NEEDED and what tools would be nice to have. Allowing you to make educated purchases in order of necessity. "Do I need a nice set of quality hex tools, or do I need a fancy pit light?"

Almost everyone starts out too small as far as parts/tool carrier.
If you are running a 1/10 buggy and never plan to expand you can get by with a small flip top(12"x18" or some such) plano compartmented deal.
But anything larger or two cars and up, might as well get something that will carry everything you might want to bring. The farther from home you go the more you'll want to bring.
I use this. Plano 737002

Been using one of these for about two seasons, at the price they're hard to beat.

I've had this tackle box for a couple years now and it's been worth it's weight in gold (with all my crap in it!)
Plano Angles Tackle System. I think I got it from Walmart for about $40
Last year I added the Proline Hauler bag (PRO605803) and now I use both
