#1
I'm starting this thread to enlighten us noobs about the stuff we should come prepared with. To enable us to be better participants, what should we have?
So far I have:
Integy Hex Set
MIP 2.5mm hex
scredwriver
Socket for tires
tire glue
double sided tape
What are we missing?

Lexan body scissors anf
Body reamer duratrax makes a great 3 peice set for under 20 bucks..
Temp gauge duratrax flashpoint seems to work well..
Body clips you can order a bag of 100 of amazon for 7$
Never hurts to buy a screw set for what ever vehicle your running.
Strips of Velcro
Car stand
A set of mini pliers you will get needle nose.wire cutters and a great assortment of other tools in a set.
Gorrila tape and Shoe goo great for repairing or reinforcing bodies
Shrink tube
Flat head screwdriver
If your running on clay dental picks always come in handy for cleaning out screw heads
If you have the cash skip the integy and get the MIPs

How about electric screwdrivers? Any advice on what which type and types of tips to get for these?

+1 on the 1/4" drive hex sets for power driver or big handle.
After wrenching on a 1/8 car, especially, I learned my old Integy set will do the job, but I wore out my hands after a session. A set of those are on the way. I found the Associated set(Just the bits, no handle) for $20 to my door on the bay.

I wonder if these work with a small electric screwdriver? Enough power? I was also thinking over ordering these:

Cheap rotary tool is nice to have for home too... only $25

Good quality hex drivers, and I mean GOOD quality
Good quality soldering iron (Haako makes great ones)
Dremel tool with cut off bits, sanding bits, and every other bit you can think of. I use my Dremel all the time.
Taps and dies for the screws you have on your kit
Extra bearing kits (Avid and Schelle sell them for a great price)
Screw extractor
If you are racing:
pit mat
pit light
tire cleaning station (if indoors)

Thread title... "Tools Every Newbie Must have: Stop borrowing my stuff"
Are you guys really expecting a newbie to show up at the track and have all of the items that have been mentioned?
There's stuff posted in here that I don't have, and I've been doing this for over 20 years, but you say it's needed?
Either the suggested items are wrong, or the thread title is wrong. Because right now they don't match and can leave new people overwhelmed thinking they NEED all this stuff, when really they don't.

Maybe you could offer up a new thread title. Also, the thread title is obviously light hearted and a bit ambiguous (what exactly is a Newbie?). Honestly, if all new racers did equip themselves with some of this stuff their enjoyment of the hobby could be increased by quite a bit. Try soldering with an underpowered, cheap iron. Try removing the flat head screws on the bottom of your offroad car with an allen wrench. A lot of tracks require a pit mat. The electric screwdriver?? I'll give ya that one but they are VERY nice to have.

If you don't like lending people a hand ... That is fine.
On my track, people share, borrow, stuff constantly, regardless of the experience.
I even get free tools, tires, cleaners passed down by those very very senior rc drivers.
They want you to succeed and they are willing to do anything reasonable.
